Truly brings to the fore the saying 'timing is everything' given our ongoing emergency blood drive needs including the recent Sandy Superstrom.

While I don't know the specifics of the employees demands, nor management's offer to them - I can say that the American Red Cross is not "hurting" for money... Their most recent IRS 990 shows a net asset or fund balance of over $2.1 billion. They have over $370 million in cash sitting in non-interest bearing accounts.

Also, they have more than 1,000 employees making over $100,000 per year, including its CEO who makes over $620,000 per year - and 14 other execs making $350,000+ per year.....

Would be interesting to see how their billions of dollars trickle down to the line staff employees....
