Worried sick
« on: October 22, 2012, 01:25:44 PM »
Good afternoon,

I don't know where to begin, I am a white straight male, I had a sexual encounter June of this year. "Protected" vaginal sex I used a condom I am unsure of the female status.

Here is the problem, after the encounter I noticed there was blood on the condom and on my pelvic area, right away I took a hot shower and washed with soap and water.

Only problem is I had a boil on my inner thigh I don't think it was "open" but can not be sure.

I am scared to death of contracting HIV

I had a hiv1 hiv2  test done at 7 weeks post exposure

Came back neg

I know 3 mth is the key, but I am scared to death to retake the test

I never got sick, besides anxiety and diarrhea as soon as I test results came back neg all that went away and I have experanced weight loss like 20lbs in that time I'm holding steady now.

Please need advise .... It's been 4 mths since this encounter whats the odds of my 7 week test turning pos

HIV is unable to reproduce outside its living host (unlike many bacteria or fungi, which may do so under suitable conditions), except under laboratory conditions; therefore, it does not spread or maintain infectiousness outside its host.

HIV is transmitted by;
Unprotected penetrative anal and/or vaginal sex
Sharing works with other IV drug abusers
Mother to child

You never had an exposure and didn't need testing.

Rapidrod,

Thank you for your response, what do you mean not at risk ? So hiv can't live outside its host ? I am sorry for the dumb questions I just don't know.

I'm my case I don't think the condom slipped or moved I am unsure. I do know it didn't break or "fall off". Just the fact that I might have had a open wound / cut on my inert thigh. And the fact that there was a good amount of blood on the condom and my pelvic area, unsure about if there was blood on my inner thigh.

Thank you for your response and comments, please direct me to a place where I can donate to this forum.

I am still trying to figure out the weight loss I know hiv can't be diagnosed with symptoms only by testing. My 7 week test was neg. should I take another test ?

I figure the stress / anxiety cause the diarrhea "everything" ate came right out and maybe that's where the weight loss came from ??

I just don't know and I am unsure

I am sorry you are distressed, but you absolutely did not have an HIV risk in the scenario you described.

"Many people, especially in the gay community, turn to oral sex as a safer alternative in the age of AIDS. And with HIV rates rising, people need to remember that oral sex is safer sex. It's a reasonable alternative."
