Unsure about exposure. Anxiety and symptoms
« on: September 15, 2012, 08:43:16 PM »
Hi all.

About 2 weeks ago I was drunk (I know, I know - drink and sex do not mix) and I ended up at a brothel in the uk.

I had vaginal sex with a girl. I used a condom, not sure how effectively. I have several causes of concern.

1. On pulling out of the girl (I never ejaculated) I could see there was a little bit of fluid inside the condom. Not sure if this was from me or from her. I'm also not sure if it got to the head of my penis. Unsure about how any fluid could have got in as the condom was intact and hadn't rolled down etc to my knowledge.

2. After removing the condom with my right hand I masturbated with the right hand for several minutes before putting the condom back on. Is masturbating with the possibility of fluid on my hand a risk? Is putting the condom back on inside out after several minutes a risk? (I'm not even sure if I did put it on inside out again)

3. I have anxiety and all of these thoughts around my head have caused me to feel extremely unwell. I have got

Fatigue
Muscle aches
Pimples on my chest
Sore throat
Slightly swollen lumps in armpit which have come and gone
Nausea
A small rash has started to appear on my collarbone area

I'm aware that stress and anxiety can cause all of these but with the circumstance in mind I am shit scared.

I'm unsure of the status of the girl.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I know all about when to test and that symptoms are a stupid way of gauging HIV but they are freaking me out.

Thanks

You had protected sex and didn't have an exposure. HIV is not transmitted by masturbation. You do not have an HIV concern.

Thanks rod. I have been lurking on these forums for months (even before incident) and you're (and Ann's) answers are always succinct.

Could you please elaborate on why there is no risk with the fluid inside the condom and no risk with maybe puttin condom back on inside out?

Is it to do with HIV not being able to cope in an aerobic environment?

Thanks, as always.

The only fluid it the condom had to come from you, precum, lube and or sweat. Fluid cannot permeate a condom. As for masturbation, HIV is unable to reproduce outside its living host (unlike many bacteria or fungi, which may do so under suitable conditions), except under laboratory conditions; therefore, it does not spread or maintain infectiousness outside its host.
