Not sure which combo is best. Need advice.
« on: August 22, 2012, 05:29:12 PM »
Hi there,

I had a rather depressing visit to the doctors today and I need to change my regime however the doctor was a junior doctor and didn't really know what combo was best so just gave me a months supply of my current regime and told me to come back when my consultant gets back from vacation. I am on truvada and isentress at the moment.

The problem is the tenofivir in the truvada is causing kidney problems and my consultant wants to take me off it. However the next line treatment is Abacavir and lamivudine but I had that genetic defect which means abacavir wont work so I now I have no idea what to do or what combo to go on next.

It is really beginning to upset me as I cant seem to find any combo which meets the guidelines in terms of NRTI backbone drugs so my doctor wont prescribe any new combo at the moment.

Does anyone have any suggestions of what combo might be best? I have been on the same truvada and isentress for 2 yrs and its worked great but don't know much else about the other drugs or drug types.

Thanks

Mark

What are you on now?

Boosted daraunavir + 3TC works if you are a 2 active drug for maintenance minimalist as do many other 1 nuke non abacavir or tenofovir combos if you are a 3 active drug maximalist. There is no best combination, just the suppresses the viurs, has least side effects one that suits you.
