HAART treatment and Ginseng
« on: July 30, 2012, 02:55:20 PM »
Hi everybody,

I visited my doc today and at least I have my medicine and will start treatment today, Iīm really very happy about it.  Iīll take Emtricitabine 200 mg and Tenofovir 300 mg (1 cap) and Efavirenz 600 mg (1cap), from Aurobindo (India); it is equivalent to Atripla or Viraday.

I was quite tired last months and a generalist doctor gave me the recommendation to take some vitamines and Ginseng (200 mg a day); Ginseng had boosted me a lot and given me a really better sensation and more energy.

My doc want me to stop taking Ginseng now because of possible effect and interractions in HAART medicine.  He also told me to avoid any kind of these stuff from natural medecine...

My questions:
What do you think about that?  I saw that some people were taking this, being on med...   Is there a risk of interraction between my combo and Ginseng?

I donīt like going against a medical recommendation, but I donīt want to experiment these tirings again...  Your advises will be very well received...
