Healthcare in Puerto Rico?
« on: July 14, 2012, 06:27:57 PM »
I currently live in Boston, MA and I am moving to San Juan, PR in 4 days (8/18/2012). I was wondering if anyone that currently lives there or has lived there can give me any advice on where to go for health care? I know that they have HDAP/ADAP but I would like to know of a clinic or doctors office in San Juan that can get me set up with a primary care provider. Any advice would be helpful!

Hi Timmy, welcome to the forums.

All I can suggest is that you use the Health Services Directory at poz.com. You will need to know the zip code for the address where you're moving.

I put in the main zip code for San Juan (00921), with a 50 mile radius, and got 78 hits. I didn't choose all the options in the drop-down list, I only chose ones like ASOs, doctors, clinics, hospitals, pharmacies and the like.

We have a few members who live in Puerto Rico, maybe some of them will chime in.

Good luck with your move!

Ann

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts
