Need info on REYATAZ !
« on: May 10, 2012, 11:50:02 AM »

OK  , I tried  searching !   Our site says I searched 5 seconds ago  :o

I saw a new  I.D. Doctor yesterday .   After I had already had  8 tubes of
blood draw , I had   NINE  more drawn .

He has me scheduled  for a CAT SCAN  for my LIVER  next week .

I do not remember what he said , One of my numbers on the liver chart is
   sky high !   Not bilruben  <sp>  .

Doctor says  IF  there is NO MASS  they will have to change my MEDS !!!!!
Something to replace the REYATAZ .

My  Good Cholesterol  is   88.4    :)

Cholesterol was off the charts a year ago  .   I have been taking fish oil for 9 months now , really does work for me .

 **************************************************
  Let the RANT begin    >:(
   My Husband said NOTHING !
No response whats so ever , nada , nope , nothing !
Bob was concerned with a perfect strangers plight  :o
Bad enough Bob comes with me , He has been feeling bad , So me even
Bitching  appears  over the top . But If I went alone , It is 130 miles away
to Saint Louis , I could at least have some free time , to do whatever , I
love to go to junk stores , just roam around , Maybe Go to a gay bar for a beer ?
But NO , Bob has to come , Never speaks a word , Cause  he really is not into
site seeing or small talk and does not do gay bars  .  Although he does seem to like to talk  as soon as i go near the computer !  We live in the WOODS , I need some  people time , I love to talk to people , I am like a caged animal !!!
I am so annoyed , and Worried , But have nobody to talk to .
Bob NEVER likes to hear about  HIV !  He rolls he eyes and gets mad .
So i don't  talk to much about health issues with Bob .
I can't  talk with my sisters  , One lost her husband last year and the other
one has a husband that seems to think he is a Turnip  :-X , Oh ! Maybe I think
  He is a TURNIP  ::)
Sorry , even if I don't get a reply from anyone , I have a least  let off some
steam .   I just feel alone with HIV  :'(

                                                    Thanks for listening ,

                                                          Weasel  :-*

Carl, you know your never along in these forums , it's challenging being in a sero-discorant relationship, and you've been in one 11 more yrs than I have

both bob & I are old 55+ plus, and we have very different health issues, but he is still my best friend, and I know that your Bob is too, bob likes his video games, and I like to DJ-mix my old school Disco, we have very different interest , but we enjoy that difference..........

hang in there Carl, and keep us posted about your liver-tests  ;)

OK  , I tried  searching !   Our site says I searched 5 seconds ago  :o
did you look at the drug page on Reyataz (http://www.aidsmeds.com/archive/Reyataz_1563.shtml)
Reyataz interacts with a lot of meds and has various possible side effects.

gosh I hope whatever might be wrong is easily corrected and nothing too important in the long run. ;)

sorry about the problems with Bob too.  :-*
Rural life with a boyfriend does have some drawbacks - few friends, few outlets, and up each other's ass all the time - and not necessarily in the good way. LOL

sometimes I have a similar problem with my BF. he says I talk about HIV too much. Well duh! I mean these days I am doing all this volunteer work about HIV and I've lived with it 20+ yrs and he's lived with it 25+ yrs. To not talk about it when it affects so much of our lives, and so much of my work, would be kinda dumb and boring.

I took REYATAZ  way back in 96 or 97 along with Crixivan, it was horrible, and was only on it for about 6 to 7 months, it didn't work very well for me  :-[

Bob doesn't mind me talking about HIV/AIDS he's a retried RN, so it doesn't bother him that much, and he understands that I've had it for 25yrs. +

but a HIV- person will never really understand what it's like to struggle with this disease as long as we have, so I do take that into consideration w/ my hubby and try not to be so in-your-face about aids with him, as it can get very heated @ times..

I just wanna keep the peace in the house as much as I can, and don't wanna be too over-bearing with the aids-speak  ;)

If you are having a rare liver reaction to Reyataz you would expect to see your ALT and AST 5-10+ times normal, not just one reading out.

However, a CAT scan will be useful just in case I guess .

Hope everything comes out okay with the testing.  Have you had testing done for fatty liver, in the past?  I just saw a gastro doc and learned a lot about how fatty liver can cause jumps in liver labs, especially with HIV's metabolic issues.

Anyway, hope they get if figured out and turns out to be no big deal.

Hello Weasel,
I deal with some funky liver issues of my own and I personally know that a person can get freaked over some of the tests and procedures. My liver panel numbers jump around but my doctor is not concerned. One visit they are elevated and the next visit most are within range. He has told me that he has patients with 10 X the normal lab levels and that it can happen with some meds.
I cannot really offer any opinion on Bob or the Turnip but I do hope that you can figure it out. I kicked my Jackass husband out of the house a little over five years ago...best thing I could have done. Life is too short to be unhappy.
Peace,
Billy

Textbook says retest. That's what my clinic would do.

I do get the liver health anxiety though, no-one wants even one duff enzyme result.
