Update
« on: April 24, 2012, 03:40:36 PM »
Just a quick update on my situation. I am off the streets, having found more permanent accommodation. It's a boarding house arrangement, own room with shared kitchen and bathroom. Sounds familiar to where I was previously I hear you say. Yes but no. It's smaller, much cleaner, nicer and quieter...... paradise by comparison.
I've also completed a series of tests and scans and am awaiting the results but I expect them to all come back  clear. The reason why I am so confident is that yesterday I saw the dietitian and she's explained to me that the symptoms and weightloss are most likely irritable bowel syndrome as a result of a gluten intolerance and so I today I start on a gluten free diet. It's going to be a challenge eliminating all wheat from my diet but if it stops the abdomen pain it'll be worth the effort.
Cheers

I'm glad you have a new home!  Congrats!

Maybe Mark will come along with hints on the gluten-free diet.  "Aztecan" is his moniker here.  He's an expert on that.

I am happy to hear that, I follow your exploits and think about you and the bear and hope all is well. So good news! On the diet side of the story, whatever you do, do not follow the Wumpette Diet, it doesn't look, sound or seem to have any positive affects.

Thanks for the support everyone and for putting up with my rantings during my "difficulties"
I've just finished day 2 of the wheat free diet and have so far survived. No pain or other bowel issues evident so I'm pleased. Thanks for dobbing in Mark... he will be interrogated and made to reveal his secrets if the gluten free diet becomes a longterm reality, eck!

I'm really happy to hear you're getting things back on track young man. :) Good luck with the bowel issues fix - I hope you've gotten to the bottom of the problem now. Yes, pun intended.

thanks for always keeping us updated. You know we worry so. :-*

I came very close to homelessness several times and just can't imagine how you have managed; but I, like the others, am very glad to hear that you have a new residence. Hopefully this one will be better and not have the issues you had at that last place.

best wishes now on getting the health issues all dealt with too  ;)

It's good to hear that you are in a better place.  And, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for ya that the diagnosis is the correct one and your belly starts feeling better soon.
