swollen lymph nodes
« on: April 24, 2012, 07:26:56 PM »
I started meds in  March 2012 even though CD4 was 540 and v only 2000, because swollen lymph nodes in underarms.  My question, will these go down and stop bothering me?  My IF doctor says not to worry now.  Any info will be welcomed, thanks!

My understanding of swollen lymph nodes is that they are responding to an infection.  Once your HIV infection is "dormant" by reaching an undetectable viral load, my guess is the lymph nodes will respond in kind.  This is how it happened with me.

However, your numbers don't really speak to a raging infection.  Give it some time like your doctor advises, if the lymph nodes haven't shrunken by the time your next doctor's visit rolls around, bring it up to him.

I have had HIV for 24 years. I've had the swollen lymph node problems since the first year. They swell and then go away. The only ones that are really painful are the ones by your tonsils.
