poz-neg relationship .. Counselling services in NYC
« on: April 24, 2012, 12:02:12 AM »
Dear all - I have been inactive on the forum for sometime now. This forum was my only support 3 years ago when I first found about my status. And I am selfishly back again as I needed some support/info when I could not get it anywhere.

Well I am 30 yr old male and my VL in the last test was about 3K.. I am on meds now. I recently met the most wonderful girl who is neg and have been dating her for about 3 months. I have disclosed my status to her and she was very supportive. However, she suffers from Chronic Kidney Disease and the prospect of having an another disease into her health equation is causing lot of stress on both of us.

We met her doctor today and the doctor alluded that if god forbid she gets HIV, she will not be able to cope with the HIV medication due to her current fragile condition. We both have been trying to find some counseling services in the NYC area where we can discuss our case. My ID doctor is very good but he is always very busy and he has always adopted a policy of avoiding these kind of personal questions...

Can someone please suggest any good HIV related counseling services in NYC area ? .. We both would preferably want to go to an ID doctor who can see her reports as well and provide some more perspective into our situation

Best Regards !

I'm sorry that I can't provide the info you need.  I just wanted to give you best wishes on navigating through this bump in the road.  And, all the best for you and your new girlfriend.

Hey.  You may want to talk to my doctor.  His name is Dr. Eddie Louie, and his practice is on E. 37th betw 1st/2nd Aves.  His staff is very professional and knowledgeable.  They've been with him for more than 15 years, and I think that they're doing a fantastic job helping me manage this illness. If you google him, you will see that he is highly respected in the field of hiv/aids.  He has a very straight-forward approach, and doesn't seem uncomfortable with anything that you ask him;  personal or medical.
