MARIA PAPAGGIANDOU, pronounced dead

<< < (3/3)

pat_fd:
Hello,

Let me give you some info about this case, all info is based on the videos and interviews she has given.

Maria Papagianidou was found HIV+ in 1985, she had serious sero-conversion symptoms, flu, fever etc and at the hospital she was undergone all typical examinations and nothing was found. Eventually she proposed to the Doctors to check her HIV status and she was found HIV+.
According to her the person who passed HIV over to her was her boyfriend, a frequent traveler to several countries and sometimes involved with drugs too.

From 1985 until 1995 she did not have any HIV related treatment, she stayed quite healthy and continued her studies, got a work etc. Around 1995-1997 her boyfriend died. In 1995 she suffered of Pneumonia Carinii and possibly this is the period she got AIDS or her CD4 - t-cells count was 200 or less. Then she started anti-retroviral treatment and she survived until April 2007 with some serious side effects though.
In April 2007 she decided to stop the anti-retrovoral treatment and all side effects disappear and she felt much better.
After the Summer of 2011 her situation deteriorated quite a lot and she started a HAART scheme but it seems that it was too late.
She died in April 16, 2012 of lung embolism and right leg embolism.

My personal opinion is that if in 2007 she had switched to the HAART  she would have been still alive since her immune system showed impressive resiliency.

The death of a denialist is not surprising to me , I just hope her actions don't drag others into the grave with her .

Be careful not to post any links on this site that link to any denialist web sites because that would result in a ban on your account here . I thought it worth mentioning siince you are new and this is your first post .

pat_fd:
I am 100% anti-denialist and the purpose of my post above was to show how wrong these persons are.

Again, if she had switched to HAART back in 2007 and followed her doctors' instructions she wouldn't have died, that's my take and probably yours too, Jeff G.
The problem with her was that she became denialist after 12 years of treatment just because the side effects were a bit much.
So I can safely assume that if the side effects had not been so serious she would have not been a denialist.

This thread was a year old.
If she was on antivirals from 1995 until 2007, she did not need to "switch" to HAART.  I don't know what you are trying to say here.

She was on HAART.
She stopped, and then she died.

I am not trying to say anything just to give some details about her illness. I don't know the exact treatment she had but I heard that at the end she started HAART but it was too late.
Point is she stopped, and then she died, as you said.
