Well he hasn't been defrocked, but he has had is "priestly faculties" revoked by the Ordinary (ie the Archbishop) of the arch-diocese.

I've not been involved with the Catholic church since I was a teenager but if memory serves the revocation of faculties is a Big Fucking Deal to the Mary Worshippers. It seems that this particular cleric was a rather unpleasant fellow.

Naturally more conservative Fish Eaters have freaked the fuck out about the suspension:
