Thought I had a non exposure, now Im worried
« on: July 22, 2014, 07:04:59 PM »
I am a mexican male, 22 years old.

So, on June 20 I went to a strip club in a small mexican city. I was very drunk and all I can remember is taking a long private and dry humping with the girl, but I was really really drunk, so I am worried about the posibility of having sex with that girl. The thing is that last week I started having a little pain behind the eyes, then it went away.

Yesterday I started having a sore throat. Today I woke up and the soreness had become a little more severe, so I went to an HIV clinic in Mexico City and had a rapid test, it came negative. I also had an ab/ag HIV test, which I think is called a fourth generation test. I will get the 4th generaton test results in 2 weeks. As the day went on I started to feel worse, and I started having malaise, some joint pains and a headache as well. I went to the doctor to get checked, but I didn't tell him about my HIV concerns because he is the family doctor. He got me checked all around and told me that it was a viral disease so I started to worry a little more. He sent me some things for treatment. I think I have a slight nasal drip that comes out of my throat with a little bit of blood. I am afraid I may be experiencing ARS. I had no fever  but my temp was a little bit elevated and i will check it again later because maybe it will continue elevating.

I wanted to know what do you think about my situation?
Am I experiencing ARS or is it too late for that?
What do you think of fourth gen tests?

Are you saying you may have had sex and cant remember ? It sounds like you are just being paranoid and never had a risk . If you are not sure then you were right to test . The testing window period is 6 weeks past any possible exposure and gain at 3 months to confirm the results .

We do not discuss symptoms because they are not specific to HIV and the only way to know your status is to test at the appropriate time .

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI.Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence .

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Hi Jeff, thank you for answering. I also think I am a bit paranoid, as I am not a dipsomaniac, so I think I could remember if I had sex, but my symptoms are making me freak out, and making me think about the posibility of actual sex.

I really donīt know what to do. What do you think of a 4th gen test at 4 weeks.

The fourth generation duo test is said to be effective in as little as 4 weeks but you need to discuss it with the clinic or testing center that does the test and defer to their recommendation. it sounds like you never had a risk and are worried for nothing .
