Travelling to Russia
« on: February 13, 2012, 06:03:08 AM »
Hey Folks

I'm taking a short trip to Russia in June, and I know there are no restrictions for +ve people for trips less than 3 months.

My question is: does anyone have experience of getting through Russian customs with their meds? I think it's OK to take them into the country, but I don't know if I need to declare them or not.

Any advice?

No advice regarding your trip.

I do love your username, however. Great Expectations is my favourite Dickens novel.

A friend of mine used to travel regularly to Russia with a stack of meds including t-20, an injectable med. Never had any problems. Put your meds in your hand luggage, take a note from your doc saying s/he prescribed them for you, should have no problems. If pressed on what your meds are for, blood pressure is a good answer, the border people won't know, or like me friend, bit of an activisit him,  play the HIV card, they had their hands of his luggage pronto. The guards are looking for bombs, contraband and gifts to take home.

Have a good trip.

Thanks for the tips - and yes, I'm just like Miss Havisham sitting in my mansion in a mouldy wedding dress waiting for a suitor who never comes back...
