New Results - Some Improvement
« on: February 08, 2012, 11:38:35 PM »
Just had my six month blood draw...and have my highest CD4 ever (920) and a slight decrease in CD% to 51.1.  The 3000mg of full strength niacin is helping drop my triglycerides (after years of no success) to slightly over 300 (they were 525 four months ago.)  Also for the first time in my memory, my good cholesterol is in the normal range...46!  I have been between 31 and 34 for the past decade.  The only "bad news" is elevated blood sugar (131 this time) which is an indicator for diabetes.  No symptoms thankfully...and I really need to get serious about 20 lbs of weight loss and a more lipids friendly diet.  Working on that now!  Fortunate to continue to do very well on Atripla.

Oh Gary that's great news! Congrats!

I know you've been battling the Tri/chol's for awhile, what a relief for you to finally see them subside ;)

Way to go on the CD4's also.

Now let's get to work on the blood sugar.  :-*

Hugs,
Will

Good to see positive results!!  Now the hard work -- the diet!  Hmmmm.. isn't it just about time for your cruise?  I'm just back from one -- not easy to eat "good" on the ship.

Excellent progress, Gary.

Be wary of taking any diet advice from our friend Wumpy   ;D

Mike,

My cruise departs two weeks from today (Friday.)  I know it will be hard to "behave" on a ten day cruise in the southern Caribbean, but I am going to try!

Henry,

I learned a long time ago to take Wump's diet advice with a grain of salt (and then some) but I do like his encouragement!   :)

Gary

Well, I could lose 20 myself--probably more.  And, my triglycerides are on the high side.  Both of us living in Louisville, we should get out and walk in Cherokee Park this Spring.  Actually, the weather has been spring-like already.  Don't they call it, Accounta-hillbilly-buddies?...lol.  That may differ in other areas.  I've just got to get off my bum and actually do it.  I've been using the elliptical at home---a little.

Anyway, congrats on the labs!

Well, we have a winter storm warning out for tomorrow (vintage Louisville panic--it's one to two inches for heaven's sake!)  so it needs to be indoor exercise.  I belong to a gym so I got no excuse!

Living here in the snow belt also, (not awfully far from you), why not use that needed snow fall as an excuse for a different work out.  I love being out it shoveling snow.  I do a lot of the neighborhood and get an awesome workout.  It's better than a 25 mile bike ride.

Caveat:  before starting any exercise regiment, consult your doctor.... ;D
