Possibility of date rape drug??
« on: September 24, 2006, 08:37:29 AM »
I'm a 30yr. old male and i have a question.  I'm not sure if this is even possible or not, but i seem to be freaking out over it.

I was at a guys house a couple of nights ago, he was kind of a friend, but he always wants to do things with me sexually, but i'm heterosexual, so i declined.

I was over there for about 3 hours, from 8-11pm, and we talked a lot and looked at some of his pictures.  I had 2-3 beers while i was there, and was wondering if this could ever happen:

Could he have put something in my drink, had sex with me anally, and then woken me up somehow and me not know it within a 3 hour timespan?  I know that it sounds crazy, and i remember most of the events of the night as we just chatted and stuff, but for some reason i can't shake this idea that he could have taken advantage of me while i was passed out from something.

I drove home that night fine which is about 30minutes away from me, so wouldn't the effects of a date rape drug be more pronounced than just feeling buzzed (probably from the beer).

thanks!

(i'm sure i sound stupid and paranoid!)

Yes you would have known. You wouldn't have been able to wake right up and drive. If you would have had anal sex you would have known it without the need to guess.

Worry, this is all about what ifs and not anything grounded in facts.

I don't see any cause for concern about this situation in relation to HIV. You're the one who's come up with this scenario which as far as I can see has no basis in fact whatsoever Maybe you need to do some sorting out of your feelings about sex with a man.

This is not an HIV situation.

Worry,

I totally agree with Rodney and Andy. You would have known something was up and you don't just wake up from a date rape drug and drive home.

But while you're here, please take the time to gain an education concerning hiv transmission and how to keep yourself hiv-free. You can start by checking out the Welcome Thread and following the Transmission Lesson link. And here's some general info:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL STIs together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with a sexually transmitted infection.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you are sexually active but aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for intercourse and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

thanks guys, from what i had read online, i didn't think it was possible to be drugged, molested, and then magically wake up in only a 3 hour time span, especially since i remember the majority of those 3 hours we were just talking, drinking beer and looking at some pictures.  I don't know why, but i just couldn't shake the feeling, although i know you guys are right.

thanks again!

I have seen TV programs on those date rape drugs and from the several events that were described in detail the people who were drugged did not just wake up and feel fine. They were unconcious for several hours and groggy when they first woke up. Your situation does not sound like a date rape drug situation at all.

gnom,

How many times do I have to ask you to stay in your own thread and not give advice? You are in no position to give advice here as you plainly do not know what you're talking about. Sorry to be blunt, but that's the way it is.
