Just tested poz! I'm Positive and Optimistic!
« on: January 24, 2012, 08:11:18 PM »
Hi guys,

Was diagnosed positive 3 weeks ago. First days were hell, but i realized there's no way back: I am positive, I have to stay positive- in thoughts, attitude, behaviour.

I had booked a holiday long before testing , but the result didn't make me cancel it- I came to the conclusion that I should do exactly the things I was doing before the X day. So I went on holidays, had a wonderful time, I'm back to work now, will continue living the same as ever and would advise anyone recently diagnosed to do so.

A positive diagnosis isn't a death sentence anymore! We are positive, we should live positively! I meet guys at the support group I attend, guys who are devastated, sad, hopeless, thoughtful, depressive and so on. You just have to realize that being pessimistic is worse for your health. There are countless examples of people who live a normal life, even if they were diagnosed before drugs existed. We are lucky now that we have the treatment option. So no more thoughts, remorses and crying. We are alive!

P.S: Being an avid traveler, I have just booked my second holiday this year! Life goes on and it can be beautiful if you make it like that!

Hey there ,

Great... Brilliant... fab attitude.

I hope that your optimism continues to shine through.

Welcome to the forums. You  are absolutley correct life must go on. Like you i have noticed that others at the support groups are sometimes people who would have needed support even without being poz. That said we do all need some support from time to time.

Welcome to the forum.

I too went to Hawaii for my planned vacation after a week of finding out about my diagnosis. It's certainly helped me a lot to deal with the news. If anything, it made the vacation more fun since I was forcing myself to be more active instead of just lounging around the pool.

Occasionally, I would wake up in the morning and the first thing that comes to mind is that I'm positive. So I have my days but tomorrow isn't promised to anyone.

Guy, that's a good way you've found for yourself on this journey. Remember that you're always welcome here to ask questions and to talk about anything that's on your mind. Having a good working partnership with your primary doctor is an essential part of your staying well.

You'll find knowledge and support here.

Welcome.
