Back from AIDS by amazing stroke of luck
« on: December 15, 2011, 10:24:35 PM »

It's 4 years since I found out I was positive by pure chance, you could say I hit the jackpot first time, with my first HIV test.

After spending about 5 months in Laos and Northern Thailand I thought there was a good chance I may have been exposed to hepatitis ( due to water and food )
So I went to a hospital in north Thailand for a hep test, they said we have a package,
we can do HIV and hep tests for the same price, do u want to do both, so I had both tests,

Shock horror,  Hep -ve , HIV +ve ,  . cd4's mid 200's , cd4% 14 , technically I guess I had AIDS .  Health wise I was fine no indication something might be wrong with me what so ever.

Returned to UK immediately and I was on treatment within 2 months. So far every thing is good ,
I guess I was lucky to get tested when I did, otherwise I could have ended up been seriously ill or worse.

All I can say is if you think you had a exposure to HIV please get tested, and the meds aren't bad at all, I still lead a normall life ( no drinking and much partying any more)
