ARS symptoms .Is this HIV or what?
« on: November 27, 2011, 01:37:12 AM »
Hi,
Last 2 weeks are horrible period of my life.Nearly 42 days before I had protected sex with CSW in Mumbai.Condom covered half of my penis and there was a dry sore on the uncovered section of that penis.I also did fingering and I has small fresh red tear on the skin on my finger.

ARS symptoms:

4 week and 1 day:High night fever(102 F),night sweats, body ache, head ache, sleeplessness ,high fatigue, dizziness, funny, blurred vision and white spots on tongue.each and every one of them ...this lasted for 12 days..Even my doc was puzzled..He gave me every range of drugs..Bacterial,malarial and finally viral. However nothing seemed to be worked. However the fever disappeared on 10-12 days..

Tests:
1)During the fever time on 35 day I tested for HIV DU0 by Vidas method came back negative.
2)I tested again on 40 day(i.e after the completion of 39 days) by using HIV1/2 DUO(Ag/antibodies) by CMIA method..This also came as non reactive (0.34)however I did the same test last year and it was 0.15 (non reactive)
3) I am going to test again tomorrow 42 days after exposure by using same  HIV1/2 DUO(Ag/antibodies) by CMIA method..Since tomorrow is exactly the completion of 6 weeks and 13 days from the onset of symptoms.

Question:
1)What are my chances of getting HIV?I had every symptom of ARS.They appeared as ARS and are very similar
2) Is HIV DUO reliable on 39 days after exposure?Or I am a victim of False negative.
3)what is the reason for the rise in Index level even though non reactive(0.15- previous year and 0.34--current test). Is this due to medication.

Expert members please help.My life has turned upside down.I have read some post here. Some people even though they had protected sex (without condom failure) have contracted HIV.

regards

Rapid rod However what about the symptoms. They are highly similar to ARS .I never had fever  of this intensity since last 10-15 years.I hardly remember that I ever had fever....and I have read some posts in this site...where people used condoms  and  contracted HIV.I am really confused Rapid Rod.

In this site I have read some posts of unnoticed condom failure. This really freaks me to hell.Is it possible that 39 days duo results would get changed.

Tango,

You did not have a risk for hiv infection. What is important is that the head of your penis was covered.

Condoms have been proven to prevent hiv infection. There have been three long-term studies of couples where one is positive and one is negative. In the couples who used condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, but no barrier for oral activities, not one of the negative partners became infected with hiv. Not one.

I fully expect you to continue to test hiv negative.

You need to realise that the illness that sometimes accompanies hiv infection is called "flu-like" is because it is like having a bad flu - and that's probably what you had. If your symptoms had anything to do with hiv, your tests results so far would have either been indeterminate or outright positive. They weren't.

I know 'non reactive' ELISA is a good indicator. However I just tested 7-10days after the onset of symptoms and I was high on antibiotics. What I feel may be I am wrong. However i have few doubts

Please answer these questions specifically.Atleast give yes/no type answer.

1)Are antibiotics drugs like Zathrin and Malarial drugs can delay seroconversion and production of antibodies.

2)As I a mentioned earlier I tested on 7-10 days after the onset of symptoms. Is this duration enough for the production of HIV antibodies?

3)last year when I tested result was non reactive 0.15.Now when I tested in the same lab the result was 0.34 non reactive.I am little anxious about the rise in Index level

Tango,

1. NO.

2. YES. The vast majority of people who have actually been infected will seroconvert and test positive by six weeks, with the average time to seroconversion being only 22 days. Where there has actually been a risk - YOU DID NOT HAVE A RISK - a six week negative must be confirmed at the three month point but is highly unlikely to change.

The illness that sometimes accompanies seroconversion is not a reaction to the virus itself. It is a reaction that the body goes through while creating antibodies. So yes, if your illness had anything to do with hiv seroconversion, you would have tested positive seven to ten days after the onset of the illness.

3. It's irrelevant. Your result was negative and that's all that matters.

You did NOT have a risk for hiv infection.

You do NOT have hiv.

If you read the Welcome Thread before posting like you're supposed to, you will have read the following posting guideline:

Quote

Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

Please consider yourself warned!

So you guys say that test results are conclusive. However have you seen anyone who was negative in 39 days by HIV DUO turned positive in 3 months?I know 3 months are conclusive any way. However have u seen any such cases?

Do I need further testing?Today I have not done HIV DUO test .Because testing in such a short span of time does not make any sense at all.

Whether you believe it or not you did not have a risk for HIV. Whatever is causing your symptoms has nothing to do with HIV and is something you need to discuss with your doctor.

HIV is not the problem. Period. There is nothing more we can do for you in this setting.

I'm giving you the Time Out for 28 days which you were warned about. Don't make the mistake of trying to get around it by creating a new account. We'll spot that right off and it will get you banned permanently.

HIV IS NOT YOUR PROBLEM. Period.

Sorry for my over posting. This ban has was really terrible for me.Friends I have discovered that  I had a second exposure.15 days after my protected sex thing.I had fingered an another CSW.while recollecting this incidence.I came to know that I had pricked my finger 1 hr back on my office door latch.Cut was  small about at most 4mm long..however wound was deep enough for blood to come out(no stitches required --it can be compared to a bad prick).During fingering in vagina however there was no blood oozing, however dry blood was present--I have seen the shinny dry blood.Fingering was done for 20 min.My hand was drenched by her vaginal fluids. Exactly 15 days after this fingering I faced this terrible symptoms.

So basically there are 2 exposures
1) protected sex---Possible condom break--9 weeks HIV DUO (CMIA method)-Non reactive
2) fingering with wound---- 51 days--HIV DUO (CMIA method)-Non reactive

This is the latest test I have done .Considering two exposures.

Friends  have also realized that my HIV DUO checked only from HIV1 (M and O) and HIV2..It has not checked for HIV 1 N and P..

Friends your help and advise is urgently needed. My life has come to a total stand still.I stay quite and sad all the time.

I don't know what has happened to me.This fever had a bad impact on me.This site 'I just tested POZ' scared me to hell.I have read experiences of several HIV POZ people who got infected even after using condoms.

I will now test on 11 weeks.

Thanks for all your help and blessings!!!

THere is nothing to advise you about at this point. HIV is not your problem although you continue to believe that it is and are misinterpreting everything that happens or doesn't happen to you as another sign of infection.

There is nothing more that we can do for you in this setting. If you continue to return about this non-risk situation you are going to get a Time Out for 56 days.

Consider yourself warned. Get on with your life and stop this unnecessary drama.

Tango,

Yesterday you sent me a PM. If you read the Welcome Thread before posting like you're supposed to and like I already asked you to back in November (reply10), you will have read the following posting guideline:

Quote

Do NOT use Private Messages to question other members about any transmission, testing or symptom issues. These issues must be discussed in the public forum. Misuse of the PM function in this manner will result in your PM privileges being removed without warning.

It's pretty obvious that you sent me a PM to avoid being given the Time Out Andy warned you about. Well, guess what. It didn't work. I'm giving you that 56 day time out.

As usual, do not attempt to create a new account to get around your time out because if you do, you will be permanently banned.

I have also removed your PM privileges.

You did not have a risk for hiv infection. Keep testing if you want to, but you're not going to get a different result. You do not have hiv!

Sorry but this may be it.On 11th week I went to a fraud lab.It is a very famous lab .However after complementing the test I came to know that the lab is making fraud reports.in this lab I tested negative for HIV DUO CMIA -0.15.This is not my concern.
My concern is that the previous all labs where I went they used electric cutter to destroy needles. However this lab (Dr.Lal)which I visited on 11th week have not used electric cutter to destroy syringe .The lab tech simply used his bare hands to detach needle from the test tube. This means that they are reusing needles. Also they use the same plastic connector to all test tubes .I never seen him replacing that plastic connector which is used to connect needle and test tube.I feel I am in high risk now. What should I do?
I have also done ELISA 13 weeks from penetrative sex and 79/80 days from fingering with wound thing from local lab.The results were negative.
What should I do now I should never been to that fraud lab.I am such a foolish guy .

Tango,

Nobody has ever been infected during a blood draw and you aren't going to be the first. Testing centers do not re-use needles or any other part of the syringe. They use thin, disposable needles that become too blunt to re-use.

You did not have a risk and never needed to test in the first place, as you have been repeatedly told.

Come back one more time with your latest NO RISK situation and you WILL be permanently banned.

Please consider yourself warned for the LAST time!

I known that I shouldn't be here.I am extremely sorry for writing.First of all please accept my apology.I known this site is not for solving problems of my kind. However I don't have anyone to talk to.This would be my last post and I will make my exit from posting further whatever may be the outcome of your replies.I don't want to trouble you any further.
My last concern is:as i told you earlier on 4 th week i got sick.During this time my doctor gave me prednisone for my headaches .As you may be knowing prednisone is a steroid which causes false negative in HIV antibody test.As per the case I have presented you people told me that I had no risk. However let us assume that there was a risk.I took prednisone for 8 days and I did my last test(ELISA) 54 days after the medications.
Please give me answer to this specific question related to  prednisone .Can you explain this thing to me.I request to you humbly and respectfully. I also urge not to ban  me for this post.

This is my final concern.I am really sorry.I just got anxious because i showed all the symptoms. This is my final and last doubt.

Prednisone would not have affected the reliability of your test result.

As you have been told repeatedly, HIV is not your problem. Get yourself some professional help to deal with the emotional aspects of your unwarranted concerns about HIV.

We can't help you with that or do anything more for you in this setting.

You are now permanently banned from this site, which you have been warned would happen if you continued returning here without cause.

Good luck with getting your real problems resolved. They have nothing to do with HIV.
