Anyone use Androgel???
« on: November 17, 2011, 07:00:15 PM »
Short story: Jan 2011 I got very ill & was hospitalized. My cd4 was below 4 & extremely high viral load @ the time. During that time I started a new hiv med treatment & was diagnosed with MAC infection. My health this year has been a roller coaster. Ive been on antibiotics for MAC plus hiv meds since Jan & recently Oct-28 my dr emailed me these lab results..... (((your viral load continues to be undetectable (<48).  Though your absolute CD4 fell to 151, your percentage increased to 21, which shows excellent ongoing immune reconstitution.  Your free testosterone level is borderline low (though not abnormal)))...This past month ive been EXTREMELY TIRED. no energy to do anything. I sleep 1-2 times during the day aside from my nightly rest. I feel most comfortable laying down or sleep. I have no energy to do simple things like walk my dog, shower, cook food, laudnry ect. Ive lost about 30lbs this year being 5'11 i now weigh 122lbs. So my dr prescribed me Androgel few days ago. I wanna know if anyone used it? Was it benefical? Did it stop the fatigue & help build muscle mass & were there any drastic side-effects??????

I've used testosterone and experienced mostly good things, energy, muscle, teenage hard-ons...I did have some shrinking of the testes but I can live with that. The gel turned out not to be strong enough for me and I went to the patches, then on to muscular injections which I am still on now. Did your doc test your testosterone levels? if so what were they?

I didnt note the exact numbers from the testosterone test results but the dr. consulting it was low and this could be my reason of extreme tiredness & no energy....Thanks for ur response!!!!

I was on testosterone shots for about four years and Androgel for a year. This was back in 2000-2005.

However, my balls did not shrink ;D
