So scared and depressed...!!!
« on: November 13, 2011, 11:37:05 AM »
Hello! I recently visited Tokyo and got a massage. I ended up performing cunnilingus, but I did not let her do anything but massage. I don't think I had any open cuts or sores near my mouth. Also I fear that there might have been brushing or slight penetration when she was on me to massage my area. I don't really know if there was actual penetration as I don't know how it feels.

Until now I have been fine with no symptoms of seroconversion. I visited the doc and got tested for other STDs and the results are negative. I have been getting itchy rashes with a few bumps every now and then, but they subside and go away if I don't scratch. The rashes appear on my chest, below neck, near the stomach and on my back. It turns red if I scratch. Also my scalp has become really itchy recently. This used to happen before the contact too, but now I feel it has increased. There is also a noticeable hair loss daily!

I also suffered a throat inflammation about 3 days ago and although now there is no pain while swallowing, there is a mild irritation due to which I cough every now and then.

I am so so scared. I don't know what to do. Every day is driving me crazy. The doctor said, to be sure the test has to be done after 3 months. I still have quite a time to go. Please help. Is there any chance I cannot have contracted? I come from a very conservative country and I want to lead a happy married life. I am never gonna do this mistake again ever. Until now I had been a good person, but while on my trip I just lost myself to curiosity!

Please help! Thank you so much!

You absolutely have NOT had a risk for hiv infection.

If you feel unwell, see a doctor. It's nothing to do with hiv.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST OVER ANY ACTIVITY YOU BRING TO US, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

Thank you so much Ann!

This really does help me a lot! I just want to make sure and for that the only way is to get a HIV test, is that correct? Is the 3 months window necessary for the test?

Three months is for testing when there has been a real risk which is something you did not have. So for you testing is strictly for your peace of mind. So test at the point at which the inevitable negative result will satisfy your concerns.
