Survey at the Brown Star Ranch .
« on: October 06, 2011, 03:29:00 PM »
I had an abnormal pap smears results so they are making me get a colonoscopy in the morning ... I have had two of these in the past and know the worst part is not eating and the prep that I have to start within the hour . I usually get down right bitchy without my regular feedings throughout the day but it really hasn't been that bad yet because I have eaten 4 boxes of jello already .

When they do the colonoscopy they put you to sleep so I never have understood people having lots of anxiety over this procedure that can save your life . Be nice to me or I will post the pics they send home with me  :P .

Jeff don't you just love them twilight-drugs they give you, I always wake up right in the middle of a colonoscopy, then they push more drugs, but the gas, cramping & farting is what I didn't like, hope things work out ok for you  ;)  I started to post pics my colonoscopy, but I didn't think anyone in here wanted to see my inerds  :D

Here's hoping the Ranch comes back squeaky clean and bright pink!  :-*

Also, I dont know why I always thought you were awake during a C. Good to know that they put you out, that way my anxiety will be nil when the inevitable C. comes my way.

I had an upper and lower GI done a few weeks ago and I agree, the worst part was not eating!
My last feeding was pizza at 1pm then beer as I pleased later.
Pill at 7 for poo and slept the night away. Next morning I got there and explained to the doctor that I take Truvada and Sustiva as the receptionist forgot to mention it. On hour later I am asking for coffee and eating the left over pizza I stuffed in my briefcase. No gas no problems. Got in the car and drove two hours home.

Since we are asleep, why do people get so stressed? :P

I hope yours goes as easily as mine.

I was not put to sleep.
Just the opposite. I was fully awake and watched it on the monitor.
A few of the manipulations were uncomfortable, but no painful.  I got bored watching the monitor after awhile, plus its not the prettiest movie.  I think being awake might help make it less arduous, because the nurse and doctor were ordering me around a bit and asking me to help them find the positions.  After it was done, I rode my bike for several kilometers and never noticed anything had just been done.

Jeff,

This does not sound like the kind of fun to have on a Friday morning, but it can be one of the necessary 'evils' of life.  Is it the abnormal result from the pap that is bothering you the most or the fact that you have to endure the procedure setup for Friday?

Sending you my best and wishing for accurate and good results from this test.

This is more of a routine recheck , I don't expect them to find any problems . I'm more put out by missing dinner and the copay I will have to cough up more than anything else . Thanks for the well wishes people  ;) .

Cool
Next time check into whether any doctors will do this without anesthesia. I don't understand why it is necessary.

Ew. Recycle that before you get old and senile. Nobody wants to find that when they are clearing out your stuff after you die.

They didn't send me home with any pics or a disk . I had threatend to send a pic to my friends sister to gross her out so I had to make do by taking a pic of the inside of my bulldogs mouth and popping that in the mail .
