may i be infected?
« on: August 28, 2011, 09:34:32 PM »
here goes.. a couple months ago i was with a csw i am male she was female. from what i have read unprotected oral poses not much of a risk. my question is the csw sat on me nude, on my testicles, no penetration took place, than proceeded to give me unprotected oral sex. a couple weeks later i developed a rash on my testicles. doc said yeast/heat.  decided to get tested at about 6 weeks for all stis, hiv.. everything came back negative. i have since developed a slight fever very sore throat, joint pain, and lymph nodes swollen under my chin. went to see the doc. put me on penicillin, didn't resolve the problem, after a week changed antibiotics and took 5 days for sore throat to stop but still have joint pain and swollen glands. my question to you is could it possibly he an HIV infection? and can HIV somehow be transferred to me through a yeast infection? oh and by the way i still have the yeast infection wont seem to go away. thanks in advance . i am kinda freaking out and could use some feedback ,, thanks

Nothing you are reporting would have put you at risk for HIV transmission. Unprotected oral sex is one of the most common of sexual activities. In the entire history of the epidemic no man has ever been confirmed to have been infected with HIV in that manner. You are not going to make history by becoming the first.

Whatever is going on with you symptomatically has nothing to do with HIV. If your symptoms continue you should discuss them with your doctor. This is not an HIV situation and there is no need for HIV testing.

Thanks for the reply gentlemen. I do know that there is not a risk, there is just too much on the  internet to read about this sorta thing. my GP even told me saliva carries a risk and that a three month test was needed. I really appreciate what yous do for others on this site. It is nice to know that there is somewhere to ask questions of this nature!

Do yourself a big favor and stop surfing the net. All you will find there is a lot to feed you worst fears and all to no good purpose. As for your GP's comment about saliva, it's very, very unfortunate how ill-informed so many doctors are about the basics of HIV prevention.

Sorry for the follow up question but I'm freaking myself out with all the what if questions ! So if i had caught a yeast/fungal infection from my exposure theres no way HIV can transmitt itself that way? and how accurate is testing at 5-6 weeks? I know you hear these questions all the time and I'm sorry. I regret what i have done and i still fear i have put my family at a big risk. I do plan to test again for my own reassurance, i have just been sick with symptoms and that's freaking me out. Sorry again im not trying to be a pest.

Are you listening to anything other than your unfounded fears and your guilt over having strayed? It doesn't seem so.

Because whether you believe it or not you had absolutely no risk for HIV in the incident you are reporting. Zero risk.

Whatever symptoms you may have are absolutely not in anyway related to HIV. Period. End of story.

Cut out the drama and get on with your life. The biggest risk to your family is how nutty you are making yourself over a non-risk incident for HIV.

Ok I have spoken to my local aids organization, they say oral is no risk, but the csw sitting on me does in fact carry a risk., I. Am not trying to undermind what yous do here caus its a great service, but I have been so sick. I also must correct my origional post by saying my testing was about three weeks after exosure. I am sure that my penis must have come into contact with vaginal secreations, thus placing me in a low risk situation. There was no penetration as I have sad and most. Of my symptoms are right on the mark. I plan n taking another test this week and I am sure my result will not be what I'm hoping for. I'm sorry for the post but I am so scared to receive my results, my quick question is will being sick alter the results?

Being sick will not alter your test results. You can test as much as you want to. I don't expect anything other than negative results for you.

I am awaiting the results of my hiv test I had yesterday, I am very nervous. In the last week  I have devolopd a chest infection,  my eyes are drowsy, I'm. Seing black specks and I've developed oral thrush, to go along with the rash on my testicals I still have. after doing some research I come to find out these are more symptoms of infection. I am having short term memory problems also. So with the persistant rash, sore throat, nightsweats, cough, joint and muscle pain, low fever, eye problems, short term mem. Probs.  I do feel I will test poz, I know you great people who give advice are doing a great job helping ppl out here. I just have nver felt this bad before and know I am going to be one of the unlucky few who tests pos from a situation like mine. Unprotected oral and frottage with no penetration,. I would like an honest answer, my symptioms do suggest hiv infection don't they? I think the reality of my situation is setting in , there is a first time for everything, and I thin the odds are strongly against me to pull through this one ok. I would like to thank all the wonderful mods at this site for listening and being so understanding. I think most people know when something is seriously wrong with them. Thanks for listening.

Unlucky few? Try lucky first.

Lucky because if you DO test positive over this incident, you will have discovered wither a new form of HIV which is far more virulent than all others discovered in the last thirty years, OR you possess an immune system so disfunctional that perhaps your genes hold the key to a cure for HIV.

Either way, you would likely be the subject of great scientific scrutiny over the course of your life, and will likely never pay for treatment.

Most people know when they have something seriously wrong with them, I agree.

Sometimes stress causes each and every symptom you list. THAT is what is likely to be "seriously wrong" with you. It's not HIV in any form we have encountered up till now.

scared,

You have NOT had a risk for hiv infection. If you feel unwell, see a doctor. Whatever is going on has NOTHING to do with hiv.

If you read the Welcome Thread before posting like you're supposed to, you will have read the following posting guideline:

Quote

Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

Please consider yourself warned!

I was just curious as to why?  thank you, my next post will be my negative results.

Why? Because it should go without saying that when stressing that penetrative sex is the only sexual transmission method, it goes without saying that shrimping, frottage, watersports, and other non-penetrative acts are NOT a risk.

I cannot see this site making a comprehensive list of things that are NOT a risk for HIV infection. The LESSONS specify the legitimate risks.

Ok.I'm.still waiting for my results to come in. . Its been driving me crazy to say the least. . I still have this persistant fungal infection, will take a couple monthes to see a dermotoligst. . A couple quick questions. Any idea how long it takes to get resuls back, all I know was that is was an antibody test,?  And isn't a persistent fungal infection a sign of an hiv infection? And other than that I still feel very foggy minded, wich could be stress., ( its been ten days since I tested) thanks.

Asking us how soon you will get your result back is pointless. Each source goes at its own pace and we can't sensibly guess as to when you will have your result.

However, you did not have a risk even though you seem unable to believe that.

If you come back again with more moaning and bemoaning about this non-risk situation and so-called symptoms, you are going to get that Time Out you have been warned about.

HIV is not your problem.

Good for you. That's not unexpected news here but I can appreciate that you must be very relieved.

To stay HIV negative just make sure you always use condoms for vaginal and anal intercourse in the future.

Good luck to you.
