SOME ADVICE
« on: August 20, 2011, 08:40:13 PM »
hi all
My friend is waiting for approval fro this site  but at the moment is in kinda of a difficult situation, so l thought l would try and share her story.
anyway about 7 months ago we came to australia on a working holiday visa which ends in jan. she has been a memeber at positive singles, and meet a guy who in the beginning was great, well they communicated for about 10 weeks before they meet. once they had  and spent  a week together, trying to keep communication with him was hard etc.
well anyway she gave up, then now it turns out she is pregnant, which as l tell her she can manage as a single parent. told the guy and he turned around and said that he didnt want it, would get shafted with child tax credits etc it would be difficult trying to maitain a rship with this guy as she is from the uk. But l dont think it was going to be hard just that he has denied and doesnt want anything to do it it,  anyway she has found this bit difficult and no matter how l reassure her she seems to be lost.  it is difficult and have tried to tell her that also guys with hiv can be idiots but she has to be strong for the baby and nothing else
i know that she was taking atripla and doc have said she might have to change medication, which isnt a problem

Auds, are you positive yourself?  If you're not, you probably shouldn't be posting here, and we can wait until your friend posts herself.  No harm meant.

Auds, you can ask one of the moderators to move this post (which are Ann, Tim and Andy).  You're being a big help to your friend, I'm sure, but don't wear yourself out.

Auds, going by your previous posts, you are positive yourself and posting in this forum is not a problem.

I agree with Taboo Princess - your friend can do it. She needs to talk to a doctor about what meds she's on ASAP. The Sustiva portion of her Atripla pill isn't approved for use during pregnancy, but as it's the first trimester that can be when any potential problems might happen, it might be a moot point by now anyway. There was one woman who occasionally posts here who took Sustiva during her pregnancy and her baby was born healthy (and hiv negative), so chances are the baby will be just fine. Sustiva use in human pregnancy hasn't been studied directly, the only info they have is with mice or other lab animals.

Has your friend been approved yet? She should have been. One other person and I do the site approvals and we do them several times a day. If she didn't get her activation email, tell her to look in her spam box. If it's not there either, tell her to re-apply with a different email carrier.
