Just looking for further advice :)
« on: August 18, 2011, 01:40:40 AM »
Hello everyone! I've been visiting your website for over a month now and I honestly can't thank you enough for all that you're doing to help out people going through rather difficult situations; so thank you so much for that!

Now, as for my topic..I'm pretty sure you've seen this so many times, so I apologize for posting this. I guess I just need some "personal advice" in regards to my specific situation.

I've been sexually abstinent for about as long as I can remember. However; on June 13, my boyfriend and I decided to try a little more. Of course, I made sure he put on a condom before we had any type of anal sex. However, at one point, he took off the condom and inserted his penis without letting me know.  I noticed in a matter of seconds and immediately pushed him away.  We discontinued any kind of sexual activity.  A few days later; i found out that my "boyfriend" hasn't exactly been a trustworthy person. I'm worried that he's been sexually active with other partners. I've asked him about his status and about his sexual activity, but honestly; i can't go by what he tells me. The anxiety was killing me and i tested negative at 4 weeks. I know that this is by no means a conclusive result; but I was wondering how likely i am to test positive if i got a negative at 4 weeks? Again, thank you soo much for your help!

Given the facts of the situation that you are reporting -- a single unprotected and brief receptive insertion without ejaculation, the high likelihood is that you are going to test negative.

The average time to seroconversion is 22 days. All but the very smallest number of those who are going to seroconvert will do so within 4-6 weeks after an exposure. A negative at 6 weeks is a strong indication that you will continue to test negative for a conclusive result at 3 months.

Good luck with your test.
