Hope,

Nothing you are reporting as symptoms have anything specific to do with hiv.

As long as you have tested negative three months past your last incident of unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse, you do not have hiv.

Unless you're on chemotherapy for cancer, anti-rejection drugs following organ transplant or have been injecting street drugs, every day for YEARS, then no, you are not going to be someone who takes longer than three months to test positive.

The vast majority of people who have actually been infected will seroconvert and test positive by six WEEKS, with the average time to seroconversion being only 22 days. A six week negative must be confirmed at the three month point, but is highly unlikely to change.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Hope,

You are totally in the clear provided you had a negative hiv test result three months past the last incident of unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse.

If your test result was somewhere between six weeks and three months, then I totally expect your conclusive three month test to also be negative.

Please learn from this experience. You need to use condoms until you're in a securely monogamous relationship - for at least three months - and have tested together for hiv. Then and only then should you stop using condoms. Please remember that The Pill will not protect you from hiv or any other STI.

Hope,

Unless your bf's test was three months past his last incident of unprotected intercourse with someone else, you cannot go by his test result.

If both of your test results was negative at three months after the last unprotected intercourse with ANYONE, then you are both conclusively hiv negative.

Your time-lines are a bit confusing, but it does sound like you are conclusively hiv negative.

As long as you both are committed to a monogamous relationship then I don't see any cause for further concern in relation to unprotected intercourse between the two of you.

Hope,

You are hiv negative. If you're worried about bruising, see your doctor. It has nothing to do with hiv.

Make sure you use condoms in future and you will protect your negative hiv status.

Ann,so I'm HIV negative right so my question is a little a maybe, and, or what if kinda question i know my boyfriend tested negative in April & me & him had been the only too sleeping together & his last encounter was with his ex 5 months ago so i was told by him. anyways what makes me think i still need to be testing is random things that's never happen to me before keep showing up like yesterday after i was about to get in the shower i took my shirt off it was a black tank top which had dry flaky skin all over it from my stomach & I'm guessing my back all thought i did not see flaky skin on my back but i did see m skin flaking off on my stomach i was wondering if that had anything to do with HIV i know you say I'm negative i don't want to do anymore testing i know I've done Enif testing an the Pol at the place problem think I'm crazy for coming in there so much i just wondering if maybe this can be all anxiety n stress or what i really don't want to have to take another test in 3 months i mean i have had a fever or any of that stuff. I've read doctor  form on medhelp but i think I'm going crazy an i got HIV stuck in my head now what to do, me & this guy have been split up for a good at least 2 months or more an he seems fine so why is all this happenin to me

Hope,

Quit chasing an illness you do not have and instead of going for more tests that you do not need, see a doctor to discuss your symptoms and find out what, if anything, is actually going on. There are illnesses other than hiv out there, you know.

You have ruled hiv out of the picture. If you continue to feel unwell, see a doctor. Whatever is going on has nothing to do with hiv.

Unfortunately you still seem to be clinging to misinterpreting everything through an HIV jitters mindset.

Just because you haven't yet been given a diagnosis for your back skin condition doesn't by default mean that or any other symptom you may have means it's HIV. It doesn't and it isn't. Period.
