Hello everyone, hope all is well.  Here is another interesting article I came across.

How likely is this?

Hello Justin, it is Eldon.

Personally I don't have any information about Iran claiming to have found the AIDS cure. As I understand it, there is a clinical phase for (3) three consecutive months, then the treatment is to last for a (2) two-year term. We will have to see what is said at the World Health Organization (WHO) when they present it to them.

Very, interesting news. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Have the BEST Day!

We had a thread going in clinical trials...http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=3703.0

Apparently it's some type of Selenium-based supplement that boosts the immunse system, staving off disease progression. Who knows if this is true or not. It seems to me that if this was something significant Iran would have rubbed it in the U.S's face already. But, we shall wait and see. Someone is bound to hit the jackpot sooner or later...!

The news story has a dearth of information, so its really impossible to say one way or the other.

If it is a selenium-based therapy, as Eldon discussed, it is interesting. Selenium therapy was being toyed with prior to the advent of the triple-drug cocktail in 1996. I was one of the toys, in a manner of speaking.

I always take any claims to a cure with a healthy dose of salt.

I still remember alpha interferon being touted as a cure and people flocking to Mexico to obtain it because docs here in the States wouldn't prescribe it without FDA approval.

It didn't work with HIV, but, as it turned out, has been proved to be useful in treatment for some strains of Hep C.

Let's just say with this most recent announcement, I am interested but will wait to see some real science behind it.

HUGS,

Mark
