About to find out
« on: June 14, 2011, 07:55:26 PM »
So they say symptoms cannot diagnose HIV... but they sure stress me the hell out!

Been having the following symptoms for a couple months now:

Dry cough
Dry mouth, canker sores, white coated tongue
Fatigue
Extreme guttate psoriasis outbreak. (never had it before)
Night sweats that lasted a week

I had an exposure last June. Never got sick until the following November. I went and got tested 5 months post exposure:
ELISA/WB = negative non-reactive.

So I was past my "3 month window". All clear!
Then in April I started having all of the symptoms. So I went and got a rapid finger stick test at my local STD clinic: NEGATIVE

Just to be sure I went back a month later and again: NEGATIVE
So that was 11 months after my exposure. Still negative. I thought "well that can't be the problem."
But still the voice in the back of my head kept telling me that I was different. I didn't form enough antibodies for the test or I didn't form them at all. My symptoms are still here.

So I go back past my 12 month marker. The nurse refuses to test me. She says I need therapy. GREAT!
I then drove directly to a paid lab where I got a DNA PCR test. They told me I would receive my results either on Friday or Monday.

I know 3 months is supposed to be conclusive but I've seen stories on here where that wasn't the case. Yes I admit I was digging. I was digging hoping not to find any! But they were there.

Boy,

I agree with the nurse. You need therapy. You do NOT have hiv.

It was a silly thing to do when you got a DNA PCR test done. They are not approved for diagnostic purposes as they have a high rate of false positive results. If you get one of those, do not expect us to hold your hand.

Stop chasing a virus you do not have and go to a doctor to find out what is really behind your problems. Whatever that may be, it is NOT hiv. YOU DO NOT HAVE HIV.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

The lab told me it would be followed up with a standard antibody test.
I know it was silly. I was just upset when they wouldn't give me a test. I feel like I'm losing my mind.

Chances are I don't  have it. But I am worried if I do I have infected my wife. I stopped having unprotected sex and she has been tested twice. Both negative.
Weird thing is she has psoriasis now too. I know that stuff isn't contagious but we both have it at the same time? really strange to me.

Thank you for your reply.

Boy,

Chances are you don't have it? Get a grip. YOU DO NOT HAVE HIV!!!

Psoriasis has nothing to do with hiv.

You cheated on your wife. So what - get over it. Hiv isn't a punishment for infidelity.

YOU DO NOT HAVE HIV!!!

We're not going to entertain this fantasy of yours. If you read the Welcome Thread before posting like you're supposed to, you will have read the following posting guideline:

Quote

Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

Please consider yourself warned!
