Bored
« on: May 31, 2011, 11:56:37 AM »
I go to back to the doctors tomorrow, I am really hoping he says I can go back to work on the 6th.  I'm so bored, and it's to hot to wonder around outside.

If he's really, really, really nice he'll also tell me that I don't have to have a nurse come out everyday and do that packing stuff anymore.  Speaking of nurses she's here to do my "torture treatment".  How come I couldn't get some good looking male nurse?

Dunno, but I'd like the services of one Night Nurse.

Hope you get the desired news from the doc tomorrow.

Well news wasn't as good as I hoped, 3 more weeks.  Apparently my incision isn't healing as fast as it should.  It is healing good, just not as fast.  :(

Which means no work for another 3 weeks.  He doesn't want me going to work until it's closed all the way, and I still have to have the packing and dressing done every day. Oh well, I think I will find someplace to volunteer at for 3 weeks.

And note to self, DON"T EVER again take truvada, isentress, bactrim, and azithromycin at the same time.

:)

What is being packed?  I must've mised a post and why not take those at the same time?  I was supposed to be on Bacctrim and Azithromycin for the better part of a year myself.

So you're telling me you're still not on any PCP med?

I'm on Dapsone.  I was talking about the combination when I was required to take my own personal hell in pharmaceutical format, Azithromycin.

Whoopsy, forgot my original post was on ladies forum.  Got rid of all the pills shortly after taking them (no didn't throw them out), maybe because I didn't eat when I took them.  I have always gotten sick on bactrim if I don't eat when I take it. They were in addition to my birth control, and multi vitamin.  I was going away last night and don't like putting my meds in a pocket.  Somewhere in the Susquehanna is a little baggie with blue, orange, and white pill in it.

The beginning of May I was having pain, and swelling in my right armpit.  Well they couldn't biopsy it the regular way so I went into the hospital and it was cut it open, drained it and Dr. did a biopsy that way.

The problem occurred when it was more infected than they thought.  So instead of an out patient procedure they kept me for 3 days.  The infection doctor said he wanted to give me some heavy duty antibiotic that was only available in iv form, so they kept me until tests started coming back.
The tests that have come back so far have tested negative, my ID Dr. and the infection Dr. said it is a mild form of MAC.

The surgeon Dr. couldn't stitch it, so it's an open wound.   I have to have the incision packed and the dressing changed everyday.  I have a nurse that comes and does the packing and the dressing in the morning.  My brother does the dressing if I need it changed in the evening.  Dr. doesn't want me going to work until it is totally closed, he's afraid it could reopen.

I thought the reason I was still taking the bactrim was for the PCP.  (Will check with my ID Dr. when I see him in a few weeks).   When I go back to ID Dr. end of this month he will do another CD4 and decide if I am staying on the azithromycin after this prescription is done.  I'm on the bactrim until my CD4 goes to 200.  I have to go to Dr. once a month until then also.  The infection Dr. asked why I wasn't on azithromycin at the time anyhow.

Other then having my tonsils out and tubes put in my ears in kindergarten I have never been in the hospital or even sick other then hay fever and normal colds.

Someone please, please, please tell my how to keep my hair from thinning out.  I can't even curl it or keep a barrette in it.  Gotta look good on the back of the bike you know.

On the up side I have decided what to go back to school for.  I may even drive to Philly and go to some museums and the Smithsonian.

So now maybe this should be moved to Living With.

Keep me posted on your CD4 counts.  I hope you see progress where they are concerned prophylactic antibiotics suck :P

I had an abcess that required packing on my initial diagnosis and I had to pack it for about 2 weeks until it eventually closed.  It left me quite the lovely scar right above my ass.  Anyway if you have issues with Bactrim you could always ask about changing to Dapsone or Mepron which are both alternative PCP prophylaxis.

Will mention it to my Dr.  My CD4 is 50, it was 77 in March, and 69 in April, then in May it was 50.  Dr. says the fall could and probably is from the infection.   I go back the 27th to ID Dr.

i usually take my Bactrim when I go to bed since it upsets my tummy,  I have also found it helps to eat with it.  Well not with mint chocolate chip ice cream with marshmallow, fudge sauce and sprinkles.  Sometimes I have to learn the hard way.

I did watch the nurse take the packing out, but it was yucky watching her when she put it in.  the dressing I can almost do myself, I just have a hard time with the tape at the end near my back.

To many Doctors in my life now, I should have such good luck with men.  ;D
