I want to know about this too. Normally, my policy regarding this is to stop drinking completely 1 hour before I take my meds (and I'll drink water in the meantime)...so far, I haven't seen a rise of VL, or added secondary effects, but I'm not sure if I'm screwing up here. And my doc wasn't helpful at all regarding this...he just tossed me out "Just Don't drink anymore" the last time I asked.

But I won't ever take the pills right after drinking any form of alcohol. I miss my old days when I was able to drink until I pass out...right now I can't do that because of this.  :(

Every medication is different and everyone's reaction to eating, not eating, and/or drinking alcohol right before meds time or after differs.

For me, I take Atripla and have been on it for almost a year and a half --- I can eat right before taking it and can drink alcohol right up to the time I take it and shortly after taking it --- none with any noticeable side effects.

My Lopid I take for high triglycerides is not as forgiving - I usually can't drink within an hour of taking it or for at least an hour after taking it.

Of course, everything in moderation and everyone has to discover their own level of tolerance in regards to eating, not eating and/or drinking alcohol before/after taking meds.

How about if I do three lines of coke at the same time as I take all of my pills?

I have been on Atripla for about five months and dont follow any of the "rules" about not taking it with food. i really dont have any side effects from it, other than the weird dreams (and i like those). as Far as taking it when drinking if i am out having a few beers i have not given two thoughts about taking it with a big swig of beer. Have had no problems and been undetectable since febuary.

In terms of the drugs working, there are no interactions.

You may find alcohol and Stocrin dont agree, but it's very personal. Some people can drink on this med, some can't. There's only one way to find out :-)
