Why some mice are gay !
« on: April 25, 2011, 05:14:17 AM »
"A chemical in the brain controls sexual preference in mice, according to scientists in China.

Male mice bred without serotonin lose their preference for females, a report in Nature says.

The researchers say it is the first time that a neurotransmitter has been shown to play a role in sexual preference in mammals.

Experts have warned about the dangers of drawing conclusions about human sexuality.

" When just a male was introduced into the cage, the modified males were far more likely to mount the male and emit a "mating call" normally given off when encountering females than unmodified males were."

SSRI's dont eliminate serotonin - in fact the point is they help bath the brain longer in the serotonin that is available.

Same is true for horses, although I dont think its been clinically established.

My father had a couple studs that would were never able to cover a mare. They wouldnt even bat an ear when a mare in estrus was paraded before them. However they would get all excited when placed near other studs, and at times attempt to mount them. I can remember dad cussing about those "Damned queer horses"

Just more proof that homosexuality is a natural occurence , and we didnt just "decide" to be this way.

There was a Will and Grace episode where Karen bought a gay horse.  I just thought it bore mentioning :)

Maybe there's a rapid increase/decrease?....lol
Judging someone does not define them, it defines you.
