Looking for a womans help and pov.
« on: April 13, 2011, 07:03:38 PM »
My ex girlfriend and I both tested positive this year. She has helped me so much to get through everything. The issue is with her. She is still very much in denial and is basically not happy. She has been to counseling and has also read the board. She is just very angry, negative, and miserable. She is tired of hearing it gets better, or you ll find a great guy, or there are plenty of men out there willing to accept you. Shes tired of all the encouragement, she really does not want to hear it. She has expressed to me that she basically wants to meet or speak to a woman that is around her age and who understands where her mind is at and is going through the same. Any insight would be great. Thanks.

Your ex would have to come here herself.  By the way, this is the women's forum, and you being a man, are not allowed to post here.  Just FYI.

Hi Shadow. I've moved your post into the Living forum. Men are not permitted to post in the Women's forum. At the top of some of the sub-forums, there are Welcome Threads. Please read these where they appear before posting in that forum, so you know the rules governing that particular forum. Thanks for your cooperation concerning this. Please don't feel chastised - I understand that you're new here and just made a mistake.

Like Betty, I urge you to get her to join here. There are quite a few women members and we range widely in age. I'm 48, but we have women who are older and plenty of younger women too.

You might also find out what's available in your area in the way of ASOs - Aids Service Organisations. Go to POZ.com's Health Services Directory and scroll down to the second section. The first section is only for finding hiv testing centers. Some ASOs have women's support groups available.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts
