30 Minute Meals my ass!
« on: September 10, 2006, 08:38:27 AM »
I like Rachel Ray, though I think she is being overexposed and I have doubts whether her new daytime show will be a long term gig.

Anyway, I watch her 30 MM show and like a lot of the stuff she makes...but in 30 minutes? come on!

So one day I tried one of her desserts....it came out delicious and tasted great so kudos to Rachel for that...but it took me an hour to make it...and this was just the dessert - there was no meal in sight.

Have any of you tried making one of her 30 Minute Meals?  If so how long did it take you?  2 hours? 3?

She's that unnecessarily cheerful broad who looks like she sings at church on a weekend isn't she? We get her here on pay. I remember watching her "teach" an African American woman to cook gumbo.

Just appalling.

I tried one of her recipes.  It took about 10 minutes to make, but then, it was a sandwich.  I like watching her on occasision, but she's a little too perky for me.  And I'm always suspect of a slender cook.

I'm a Paula Deen fan.  Chubby, happy, and not afraid to use the butter and sugar.  And her son's are hot.  WOOF!! (as Cubbybear would say)

Yes Matty she is a little too perky sometimes that it comes off as fake.

I too am a Paula fan....she adds like 10 lbs of butter and sugar to virtually everything.  And you can see the delight on her cherubious face as she sinks her teeth into one of those ucious desserts.  I was a fan of her sons but one is not as hot as I thought.  I think her son Bobby - the dark haired one - is a total hottie.

...And I'm always suspect of a slender cook...

Slender huh?  To me she seems shaped rather like a pyramid.  They try to dress her to conceal it...but it doesn't work.  Her thighs are humongous.

I've nothing good I can say about her, though I realize she's popular.  The concept of the show is good...homemade meals in a short time.  But her repertoire seems limited and repetitive...usually involving boneless skinless chicken breasts.  She spices things way too heavily for my tastes...onions...two tons of garlic...peppers...in everything...yuck!

She can make those meals in thirty minutes because she has assistants who help prep things.  And of course she doesn't have to clean up the pots...pans...etc.

She's way too perky for me...giggly...and the baby talk (I'd never heard of "sammies" which I figured out are sandwiches.)  She tries so hard to be cute and it doesn't work with me.  I think she needs to be put on Paxil...that would calm her down a little bit.

If you want to see a good chef with a pleasant and down-to-earth personality...try Barefoot Contessa on FTVN (Ina Garten.)  She's just who she is...it's about the food...not her per se.  (She's overweight but dresses sensibly.)  Some day Rachel Ray is going to bust out of those skin-tight jeans into which they pour her.  Hope it happens when she's trying to carry that huge armload of stuff two feet from the counter to the work area...how idiotic is that!?

If this is the same one I'm thinking about, Rachel was at one point, overweight.  She went on a diet and started cooking healthy... I think that's how she got into the cooking show biz... My late husband used to know more.

By the way...

I love Paula Dean!

Am afraid I have to agree with Whizzer! Have a degree ad work as a hotel manager and I would never hire a slim chef, especially an exec chef!
