HIV Symptoms?
« on: March 15, 2011, 12:55:01 PM »
What are the usual symptoms of having HIV for about a year? I'm having dizziness, headache and being forgetful lately. I had my blood pressure and vision examined, all are normal. I'm having this for a month already.

My last sexual encounter was about 8 months ago. Wasn't aware of HIV before. Now I would like to know when and what symptoms to get as time goes by. Thanks!

First of all neither the presence nor the absence of symptoms is ever the way to know HIV status.

If there has been a real risk sexually, then getting tested with an HIV test at 13 weeks is the only way to have a conclusively negative result. The only confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. Anything else sexual is only "theoretically" a risk, but in the real world of HIV we know it's about unprotected intercourse.

You haven't mentioned why you think you were at risk. There is nothing HIV specific about anything you are mentioning symptomatically. If your symptoms persist you should discuss them with your doctor.

I had sexual encounter with an unknown guy around July 2010. We had a protected vaginal intercourse and unprotected oral. I gave him a blowjob and i think he cum inside my mouth. But before that, he rubbed his penis on my vagina(unprotected) but no penetration and no fluid. I'm not sure if this guy is infected :(

Few days after that incident, i got severe fatigue, slight fever and colds. Could this be a sign of HIV? It's been 8 months and I'm still getting paranoid. To all POZ, how long before you experience the symptoms that you're infected with HIV?

At no time were you at risk of contracting HIV.

Your saliva contains over a dozen elements and proteins which very effectively prevent the transmission of viable HIV if it's even present. The only confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse.

As long as you always use a condom for those activities you will be well protected.

In relation to this incident you are reporting you are worrying needlessly. There is no need for testing unless you want the inevitable negative result simply for your peace of mind.

This is not an HIV situation.
