36 dogs released from scientific torture
« on: February 13, 2011, 04:04:07 PM »
Today, as I was reading the newspaper, I came across this news. It happened the 1st of January of 2011 but it has not appeared in the newspapers till today. Two full pages with pictures and everything. The company in which these dogs were produced is near Barcelona, but it is a multinational company called Isoquimen with facilities in Germany, Holland, Italy. France, UK, Switzerland, Canada, Mexico, USA, Japan, South Korea and Israel. They are opening a new facility in India now.
I could not find a free access of this news published today by the national newspaper "El Mundo" (Spain) but I found this link that even includes a video of the liberation. A family had been assigned to every single dog before their liberation. The video has a happy ending.
The organization responsible for the freedom of these dogs is called Igualdad Animal, and the police is trying to catch them. They raise dogs of the race beagle for their docility. They never bite.

Automatic Translation of the news:
Last night of January 1, 2011 activists sympathizers with Animal Equality rescued 36 dogs of the breeding-place of animals for vivisection Isoquimen placed in Codines's Sant Feliu as they report in his communiqué.

Isoquimen is a company dedicated to the baby of animals for laboratory who offers also the services of experimentation under contract. This company has initiated his activity recently in India where it tries to import dogs soon for the baby with experimental ends. The animals raised in his facilities of Codines's Sant Feliu are sent to the laboratories of companies, powers, hospitals and military complexes of the whole world in those who force them to consume toxic substances, provoke tumors, inoculate virus, infect diseases and provoke addictions, cut the bones or extract glands and organs to them, kill his babies, etc.

According to the Department of Environment And a half Rural and Marine 1.403.290 animals died in the Spanish laboratories during 2009, which represents an increase of 56,3 % with regard to the previous year. Nevertheless this number does not reflect the royal number of victims of the experimentation with animals in Spain provided that in such a report it is not assessed to the invertebrate animals that also are animals capable of feeling and with own interests, for what the exact number - still unknown - has to be necessarily very much major.

Animal equality rejects the experimentation with animals on having treated itself about an unjust practice based on a discrimination. We are in the habit of thinking that  their interests are not so important as those of the human beings and that, therefore, we are legitimized to frustrating them if with it we obtain some benefit. Nevertheless, there is no motive that justifies this different consideration. The preferences towards the members of the same group (species, sex, race, etc.) they are irrational and arbitrary and therefore they have to be rejected as well as his consequences.

Our rejection into the experimentation with animals is not translated in the end of the scientific investigation, which can develop without the use of these. In those cases in which there are no methods without available animals, we plead for the cessation of the above mentioned experiments and the investment in the development and approval of methods without animals. We do not plead for modifying the conditions in which they live and are used these animals in the breeding-places and laboratories provided that we consider any form of experimentation to be illegitimate with animals.

Who we live or have lived with dogs, cats or other animals we understand that these are beings with the own, individual only interests that estimate his life and that deserve our respect. What would we think if the one who was finishing in the laboratories was the dog with which we coexist?

Each of these thirty six rescued individuals is today a motive of happiness for us. For them we want to show openly our support to the anonymous activists who have carried out this action and announce that we will initiate imminently a campaign of raising awareness and pressure in Spain to advance towards the end of the experimentation with animals.

NOTICE: Animal Equality neither is responsible for this action, therefore, he nor claims his authorship. We neither have knowledge of those who are the authors nor want to know it. The actions carried out by anonymous sympathizers with the organization are only a responsibility of the above mentioned individuals and are not binding towards the organization. Animal equality like organization of defense of the animals echoes this communiqué that we reproduce entirely because we think that it is a question of information of general interest for the company.

Wow. It's good to know these situations can sometimes have a happy ending.
