Atripla - Hair loss
« on: January 27, 2011, 09:18:26 PM »
Hi,

I was diagnosed HIV 4 weeks ago :(. My doctor was of the opinion I should start Atripla straight away to give my immune system the best possible chance in the long term. I started Atripla the day I found out I was positive (4 weeks ago).

In the last week, I have experienced hair loss in large amounts. I understand that hair loss is not listed as a side effect of Atripla…but could it be?

My Naturopath thinks it is more to do with stress (hyperactive Thyroid and Adrenal glands).

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I've been on Atripla for over a year and never experienced this - however, I have normal male pattern hair loss.

I have heard of people losing hair due to stress.

You came here after being banned in another forum? You didn't have a risk of contracting HIV.

Rapid Rod, I was not banned. The moderator of the other forum suggested I use this site also as it is more active and that I may get more responses to my question.

What do I have to do to prove I am HIV?…my CD4 count is 394 and my VL is 5080 after 3 weeks of being on Atripa?! is that what you need?! or do I need to scan my results?!

I am having a difficult enough time coming to terms with the fact that I contracted HIV wearing a condom (which obviously broke) without you making me feel worse by insinuating you can't catch HIV wearing protection…because YOU CAN if it fails.

You had protected sex and didn't have a risk of contracting HIV. Would you like for me to go on with it? Yes you were banned.

You stated in the other forum you tested positive on the 23rd of January and here you state you have been on Atripla for 4 weeks. Today is the 28th. Now you do the math.

I am not here to debate with you RapidRod. I was not banned, I can email you the moderators message.

I can see why 18 other members have chosen to 'ignore' you… you are being heartless and inconsiderate.

Folks on this website are a lot more educated in HIV and it's going to be a lot harder to try to pull the wool over there eyes. Just stating the facts Mikeyboy.

Only 18? Feh! I've been as high as 23 ignorants. At the moment I'm only on 19 but still that's more than Roddles has.

Here's a tip, ignorants always peek. :)

RR,

If you send me a private message with your email, I will scan my results and email them to you!!! Not that I should have to prove anything to you, but so that other people on this thread may believe and actually help me.

Mikey,

From what I can tell Rodney is suggesting that you HIV negative:

You came here after being banned in another forum? You didn't have a risk of contracting HIV.

Our Goderators are pretty hardcore. If you're fibbing to us, you might wanna come clean now.

Mtd,
I have proof that I am positive, if the moderators need to see it, I'm more than happy to scan and show it to them.

Now moving on back to my issue, can anyone offer any advice?

You might want to have it ready. Now about the math. How did you get diagnosed on the 23rd and you've been on Atripla for 4 weeks and today's date is the 28th?

No, I'm sure it's fine. We assume good faith around here. If you say you're positive then we accept that.

Unless someone has evidence to the contrary, of course. Rod seems pretty sure about this.  But in any event that's a matter for the Goderators.

As for your OP, I think you should re-read what Phil said in his post above.

Take care,

MtD
