i mean minutes. i take it usually at 23:00. but today, i was so concentrating in my work on computer that i forgot the time. as i recognised it, it was already 23:11 or 23:13. So, i stood up and took my pill immediately.
could it be a problem? could it cause resistance?

I can't believe you've been HIV+ for four years and you think missing by mere minutes is going to cause you a problem.  The answer is positively "NO"

Ivan, if patients had to time their doses down to the minute we'd all be dead.  Seriously, it's not an issue.

Hi,

I have had a hard time getting some definite instructions from my doc in the matter.

the few things I am getting from him and this forum: (true , not true, I can not guarantee)

- of all drugs, Atripla seems to be the most permissive
- there is a load time at initiation, and one you're fully 'loaded', timing is less of an issue

As yourself, my policy had been to be very rigorous at the beginning, then, with time, giving it some more allowance (say, I am on the phone when the time comes, or I have my hands tied in something...)

Currently I am trying to be timed at plus minus 15 minutes, but would not make a big deal of it if happens to be 1/2 hour or even 1 hour (if exceptional)

So, as long as you did not miss a dose, you should not worry.

Even if you miss one dose, after, say, being UD, which would normally occur within the first 6 months of treatment, you should not make a big deal of it

Peace

Eric

Ivan:  I've been on Atripla for about 2 months now.  My doc told me that Atripla is really forgiving when it comes to time.  She said just take it every night at bedtime (whether that be 9pm or midnight) and you'll be fine...  She does not believe that being to the minute or even the hour is an issue.

I've followed her advice, usually take it around 10 / 10:30 but sometimes as late as 11:30.  After a month on it my labs showed great improvement so I guess it's working!

Best of luck  ;D
