Went to a massage parlor and am concerned
« on: December 15, 2010, 02:22:53 PM »
I have been in a state of panic for the past week, On a wimb after visiting a client I went to an Asian massage parlor in NYC.  It was my first time every going to one of these places and didn't really no what to expect and I was not thinking.  The place looked clean but I guess you never know. At the end of the massage she gave me oral sex with a condom but it broke.  Afterwords we had vaginal sex with a new condom, thankfully this condom did not break, I don't know what kind of condom was used or if she put in on properly; I feel so stupid for not thinking about these things.  So obviously I am concerned about HIV and other STDs.

I am probably fine and am panicking for no reason but will feel better after an HIV test, I called a clinic and they said I should wait 6 weeks.

You are worrying needlessly. Receving oral including without a condom is absolutely not a risk for HIV.

You wore a condom for intercourse which is exactly what you are supposed to do. Condoms provide very effective protection against transmission. If it had broken you would have known it because it's very evident when that happens. It's not about teeny weeny little holes. The whole thing fails and ends up looking like a hoop with fringe on your penis.

There is no need for testing nor for further concern about HIV in relation to this incident.

Get on with your life. Really.

I know what you are saying and after reading other peoples post and your responses I expected this response, which is a good thing.  I think I will still get the test just ease myself completely in 6 weeks. But I will try not to stress too much.

The other factor which scared me a bit, is I have come down with a pretty bad cold with lots of muscle aches, which is adding to my stress.  Of course the stress is probably contributing to the cold.........

Thank you for your quick response

Regarding the breaking of the condom during the vaginal sex; I am pretty sure it didn't, but I didn't really look at it that closely, it was a quick glance and I was even thinking about it.

You wouldn't have had to look at the condom closely to have known it had failed. It would have been hanging in shreds from your penis. Nothing subtle about it when it happens.

Your "symptoms" are not even remotely HIV specific. You are bothering yourself needlessly about this incident and sounding somewhat in culture shock in the aftermath of having done something sexual that is out of the box for you.

You did what you did. Take a breath, let it go and get on with your life. Really.

I keep rereading this thread to assure myself that I am fine,  but I am trying to think of things I may have left out of my explanation as I am still a bit worried.  The fact that I have been real lethargic for the past 4 or 5 days and have had a sore throat which is not usual for me all weekend.  No fever, no rash, lymphnodes seem normal.

I know I just need to chill the hell out but writing it here helps me chill the hell out a bit.  I do believe you that I am OK, and I just need to give myself a slap in the face.

Thanks for letting me vent!

The basics in the situation are very clear. You weren't at risk and you can get on with your lfie without further concern about HIV in relation to this incident. Period.
