The Bionic T-Cell
« on: November 19, 2010, 06:21:23 PM »
Well, I'm starting my Bionic Woman marathon for the weekend as it's now available on DVD (have to wait a few more months for The Six Million Dollar Man to come out - not sure why they released them backwards), and I was just thinking we need Dr. Rudy Wells and Oscar Goldmann to get involved in the battle against HIV. They could create the Bionic T-Cell, complete with the catchy 'unh unh unh deet dee deet' sounds!  :P

If they can give Max the dog bionics, then surely they could come up with a cure for HIV.  Poor Max was only in like 2 episodes.  He would be given his own spin-off today on Animal Planet.

Seriously, I loved both those shows, but Wonder Woman is my favorite!  Maybe she could find something on Paradise Island to find a cure.  Maybe it is in the same mine as the feminum from which they made the bullet-deflecting bracelets.  The same mine that Wonder Girl blabbed about to the Nazis.  Oh, that caused a lot of trouble.  Wonder Woman had to make an unplanned trip back to the island, got gased, and then made to do hard labor carrying the feminum out of the mine.  She somehow tricked the Nazis and regained control of the island.  I never saw that coming.

Ditto! I love WW. I've got all three seasons on DVD (and Buck Rogers, I think)...it's so much fun to go back and watch them...rather cheesy but fun. Do you remember who played Wonder Woman's little sister?  She was sooooo young when she debuted.

I just ordered Isis this week, too!  Can't wait...lol  :-\

Debra Winger played Wonder Girl.

Debra Winger on The Late Show with David Letterman in 1993.  Dave plays clips from Wonder Woman and Debra talks about working with Lynda Carter.  At the end, she revives her role as Wonder Girl for Dave:

Just checking to see if you remembered!  :D She looks like such a baby in her little WG outfit and her pigtails  ;) I think it's fun watching retro TV and watching the actors you know "grow up" over time. I saw an episode of The Hardy Boys recently that guest starred Melonie Griffith. She must have been 18  :)

I couldn't find the link where I got mine. It may have been pulled since there is a official release. The quality is just okay and I know the new, official release will be better.

Here is the new DVD.

Lindsay Wagner is still beautiful 30+ years later.

Thanks, GSO. Guess I'll have to wait while they "slow roll" the releases. I'll never understand that marketing strategy  :-\ I wish they would just release these types of series as "boxed sets" and be done with it.

The Lindsay video clip is a part of the "extras" on the DVDs I received recently. There's also some interesting interviews with the writers about the evolution of the show. Apparently, there was quite an uproar from parents on behalf of their children when the bionic woman was "killed off" during The Six Million Dollar Man. The network threw a lot of money at Lindsay to get her to make a return but she wasn't really interested in doing the show; she was more interested in doing something that helped kids etc. Her manager finally "sold her" on the idea by advising her to require that she have creative input to the character and pointing out that she would be helping kids via her personna.  The rest, as they say, is history  ;)

As that tear rolled down Steve Austin's face from his non-bionic eye, I blubbered.
