Some cell phones now have bar code scan capability's , its kinda cool technology , my buddy scanned a bar code last week with his phone on a product he wanted to buy and was able to see in a minute it was indeed the best price in town . I wonder when cell phones are going to be able to read credit cards and what havoc that may bring .

OUCH!  I will be getting a sleeve for my cards this coming week.  I hope my passport is safe since it was issued  before 2006.   Thanks for the heads-up Rod!

Many people are worried about shopping online when shopping online is usually very safe--especially if you make sure the "http" says "https".  Many thefts occur when you give your card to a server or someone who works at a store.  A criminal server/store clerk either writes down the card info or some go more high tech and buy a card reader where they can quickly swipe the card and it stores the number.  I see this reported here all the time.

The other thing happening is criminals place a device over the card slot on an ATM machine.  The device also contains a camera that captures when you input your pin.  Your card goes through their device first and then on into the bank's ATM.  You get your cash as normal, but they now have your number and pin.

Wow!  Thanks for posting Rod.  I will check my credit cards. I'll also look into one of those protective covers.  I wonder if there are protective lined short carries/pouches/wallets out there as well.
