The Foster Grant Ironman World Champion 70.3 ....

Returns here to Clearwater, Fl in just a few hours.  I've already printed out all the street closures for the event, so that Ed and I can maneuver around the County today. We'll be in South County part of the morning, but I am sure we will run into some of this event today. This will be the last year of this event in this area, next year it moves to las Vegas.

More than 1,500 athletes from around the world are competing in the final World Championship race in Clearwater.

Route Map:

http://www.myclearwater.com/gov/depts/parksrec/news/ironman/ironman10/pdf/Route_Map.pdf

The event begins with a 1.2-mile swim in the Gulf, followed by a 56-mile bicycle ride through northern and mid-Pinellas County and finishes with a 13.1-mile run through downtown Clearwater.   (We'll Be in Downtown Clearwater, for the final run)

Road closures will begin at 3 a.m. Saturday in Clearwater Beach and at 5 a.m. Throughout the rest of northern and mid-Pinellas County. The bicycle portion of the race is expected to be over by 12:30 p.m., while the roads will be completely reopened by 3:30 p.m.

=========================================================

Many of the residents in the area were complaining about this event, but I say fuck them.  There has been more than enough time for people to prepare around this event, This year, and every year it's been here.  Plus it helps to bring income to Clearwater.

I hope all the participants have a successful/safe day today.   :P  Ed and I won't be participating, as it would kill us   :P  but I am sure we'll get to observe some wonderful sites.  ::)
