Another cold in one month.
« on: October 04, 2010, 06:12:44 PM »
Once again , I have a cold, I thought this was over for a while and then scratchy thorat, very runny nose, and feeling tired all the time.
I am taking my Bactrim everyday, and loratadine to  help me with terrible runny nose.

This time I really didn't have any contact with anyone with a cold.
I just had an appointment with the acupuncturist, and feeling very well, just a scratchy throat.
Next day I had sex with this guy ( no kisses or oral sex , I avoided it on purpose ), and felt so tired after that, I thought this might be related to depression and the decrease in my antidepressant.

Next day, all day in my car it smelled like burning plastic, it was something bad in the AC , and had it fixed.
My nose and my sinus were stuffed.

Finally yesterday, sneezes and running nose, with half a box of Kleenex a day and many napkings, and paper towels.

I will be having my monthly appointment with my Dr on Thursday and see what he says.

Is it unusual to have 2 colds in one month ? The other one, was far worse as I had fever. I wonder if its an allergy or the weather turning cooler ?
Greetings,

My HIV neg friend, who thinks my house is his 2nd home, has colds all the time and uses up all my Charmin.  I use to think we HIVers were more prone to getting colds and flu, but read that actually isn't true--well, according to Dr. Gallant.

I hope you feel better soon.  I hate having a cold.  Maybe it is allergies.  Isn't Fall just as bad as Spring for those?  Here in Louisville, we went from 101 degrees to 60 degrees, rainy and cold in just 2 days.

I agree with Tedderz, it could be allergy related. Here in Texas everyone, including me, is fighting something that blew in on the last cold front.

I still have my cold, just diminishing, with cough ( green stuff coming out), and runny nose.
I went to my Dr yesterday, he told me not to get off Bactrim, that is the lesson to be learned, but he thought it was viral, and my lungs were fine.

My Dr told me I should have by now around 238 CD4, which is still very low, and that until I would reach the 400 S , I would still get fungus, white tongue, a very susceptible to infections.

Hey Roy... I don't know anything about your life style and habits.
But a good alimentation will do the job plus some sports.

So fruits and veggies are very good. I know it's a cliche but citrus fruits are a blessing, so eat them raw, or make juices at home(don't buy the one from the supermarket).
Make sure you hydrate yourself proper, great tea with lemon it's a great thing to drink, so 2/3 cups per day again helps.
A high fiber diet, is again helpful, cause we are loosing lot's of T-cells through the colon, so check over the net what you would eat. Even though it's almost a "forbidden" plant, Garlic is very good in fighting infections, and keeping a good immune system.

So try all this and will be easy, then treat the cold.

Take care and get better!

There's too much confusion.

Actual cloves of fresh garlic are not " an almost forbidden plant."   The warnings are about garlic supplements (which are way more concentrated than fresh garlic).

But , yes, a healthy diet is good for your body.  Will it fight off a virus such as a cold? hmmm, dunno about that.

Please be careful when offering advice, as not all citrus fruits are equal in regards to HIV medications. Grapefruit juice, depending upon which HIV meds a poster may take, can have a very negative reaction with some medications. Grapefruit juice can inhibit the metabolism of several drugs, including non-HIV meds, such as Lipitor. There are other natural products, such as Echinacea and St. John's Wort that are also contra-indicated when using various HIV medications. I know you mean well, but you must be careful about suggesting sound and safe practices.
