Isentress - Major issues about...help, please!
« on: September 12, 2010, 03:26:32 PM »
I have been taking Isentress for about a month...Adnormal dreams, Insomnia, Excessive fatique have been side effects and seem to be ones for a lot of people. Does anyone have experience with this drug? Did the side effects get better? How long (knowing that everyone's body is different) before getting better? ANY info will help...I am very depressed about this. I take Travada but had to change to Isentress trying to help lower my Triglycerides and up my Good Cholestrol. My total HIV health is very well matained and under control.

This in notable in about 5-10% of people for 1-3  months. Do you have other options?

Did you mean to say something else, you can't switch from Truvada to Isentress, you're supposed to take both.

I think fatigue is one of those things that's hard to pinpoint on the meds, unless you noticed it dramatically starting when you started the meds.

I'm on Isentress Truvada and find it pretty side effect-free. Give it a little more time if you can, it should get better as Newt says.

no real side effects on Isentress except I couldn't sleep very well the first 3-4 weeks on it. After that it was a breeze considering the awful side effects on Kaletra which was my prior regimen. How is it going so far for you Ala?

I'm on a combination of Isentress and Truvada, and after a year on the combo still don't feel fully 100%, but pretty good. In contrast I took Atripla for a couple a weeks and came out in a bad rash, and felt like I was drugged up the whole time, but not in a good way. I was felt completely wiped out. I struggled with balance on stairs for instance.

I changed to Isentress and Truvada, For the first few months I felt better, but still a bit out of it, with sleep and concentration problems. Some of this was the psychological effects of taking meds, which are more than you expect. I was pushing to start and then found it wasn't as easy as I expected. Twelve months on I'm doing pretty well and haven't had the side effects you've experienced with Isentress, Hang on a little while if you can.

The counts are good as well so far

Sept 09 cd4 334 vl 12,000
Dec 09 cd4 338 vl undetectable
Mar 10 cd4 442  vl undetectable
June 10 cd4 556  vl undectectable
Next counts in a couple of weeks, wish me luck.

Take care

Please clarify if this is your first combination or a switch from another combination.

Humm I've been taking this for the last 3 to 4 yrs. (think I was put on that back in 2006/early 2007) it replaced FUZEON, and I've never had any problems w/ Isentress, it sure beats sticking myself w/ a needle
every 12 hours. like i did back then  ???

Isentress gives me a godawful headache, but that is all.

How can you pinpoint it on Isentress?

I was getting horrible headaches before starting meds and once I started (Isentress/Truvada) they went away.

I have been on I&T since March 15th after a horrid few weeks on Atripla. This combo has been very very good to me. The only problem is that I can no longer eat Mexican food because the gas is horrendous!

Jonathan,

I'm interested in your reply, too. Today, I restarted and had a headache which responded to my migraine med, Imitrex, BUT I get weather-related headaches and rain is forecast to be headed our way.

So, I don't know if it's med or weather-related. How often do you get the headaches? Are they migraines? Have you had them for however long you've taken Isentress/Truvada? Lots of questions, but I'm eager for any answers since I am new to this.

Thanks.

Em

I assume you're on two other HIV meds, probably tenofovir emtricitabine (Truvada); those meds are more known for causing gas than Isentress.
