I seem to remember it was you who is intensely curious as to how it feels to take a cock up the back door . You should hire a rent boy since you cant stay away form gay sex topics . Just keep telling yourself this when he slips it in ... it ain't gay if ya don't push back .

My, how we perceive things through our own eyes. Since you clearly didn't get why I was asking, I'll spell it out. I was not interested for my own experience  - if I was I could just stick something up there and see how it felt. I was interested how gay bottoms get to orgasm from purely scientific curiosity. There just aren't enough nerve ending to get an orgasm (some people can come from pure thought - I am not talking about those) - so  men usually need penis stimulation to come. It has **nothing** to do with myself or my sex life.

A similar argument is mounted (!) by those curious types who turn up to accident and emergency departments with various objects lodged in their botties.

Well doctor, I slipped in shower and the next thing I knew the removable showerhead was suddenly unremovable . . .

Or words to that effect. :)

I take a multi called Multi Essentials made by BioCeuticals in Australia.

I have mine with lunch every day, then my meds with dinner.

That first pee after taking the vitamin is very dark, like a lime/flouro/colour.

Not sure if I'll continue after the 90 day bottle is gone, but I'm thinking maybe if my pee is so dark after taking it I might not need the extra vitamins and minerals and maybe it's a waste of money ($AUD $35 for 90 tablets, which is pretty cheap really) and also a slight concern that I'm overloading on things I simply don't need....Peace ....

Hell YES........whiskey. Definitely....... along with omega 3 fish oil and a one a day mulit-vitamin, also will chew on a smal clove of garlic and sometimes a small piece of ginger root, this keeps all the oral buggers at bay  ;D

you might want to consider my recently uncovered research regarding including smoking as a prophylactic for KS.

For the last few months I have been down to only 2 supplements - one vitamin D 5000 IU softgel to counter side effects from several meds, and melatonin to help with sleep. I have a 1 year supply of many more supplements I stopped taking. I may cycle through them over time, but I will most likely have some excess.

melatonin, interesting, anyone else taking this one? or melatonin + calcium?

I wonder how much of a placebo effect taking vitamins and supplements plays? Is anyone aware of any studies regarding HIV and the placebo effect? I suspect that many people want to do something proactive before they start conventional treatment as this disease leaves you feeling so helpless and taking vitamins and things seems like the only option even if it is just a placebo effect.

For those where treatment is not currently indicated, what would you suggest an individual can do, if anything before it is time to start treatment?

melatonin for sleep:

I take 5mg melatonin for sleep and it works great.
Also I used to get up nightly to pee until my doctor prescribed progesterone slow release capsules.
Without progesterone levels high enough you don't get into a deep sleep. At least that is what I was told and it seems to work. Hell I used to have to pee 3 times a night sometimes!!

I have taken melatonin for sleep issues. It works, but I have noticed I am very groggy the next day. Oddly, when using pot, I awake refreshed. It seems to be one of the few drugs that does this.

You could try to reduce the dose, a large study I think at John Hopkins that studied it, showed that the common 3mg dose found in many supplements was way too much.

That is actually a great idea. I don't like relying on harsh stuff to put me to sleep, and like to have an arsenal of different products. Would be great to add Melatonin back to that mix again.

specifically they found the .3 was almost as effective as 3mg if I recall correctly however and .3 was much more effective than 20mg so its a strange dose range or there is a point of diminishing returns. I will look for the study.

Indeed. I think as little as 300micrograms is OK. I take 1mg slow-release.

Quite childish really some of you intentionally trying to turn a simple thread about what vits people take into some sort of sex thread , grow up.

Try not to let it bother you; it happens all the time.  Just keep bringing it back to the original topic.

Can anyone suggest some good vitamin suppositories?

Or perhaps supplement enhanced colonics? In the style of a good old fashioned retention enema.

There are many vegetables that are loaded with vitamins and minerals that can be used as a dildo .

Red peppers are loaded with nutrients.  Uh... Dude... You said load.

I wonder if they is good for teh HIV.

This was just a "beginners sample" that I picked for Boze.

Us hardcore queens need more sizable peppers.

My final comment in this thread is that i find it rather sad that many of you seem to treat hiv as a joke . If you want to have your fun and discuss sticking vegetables and dildos up each others arses then good for you but it should be in the off topic section. I am intrested in what people are taking as supplements as are many others but the thread has been intentionally ruined to the point where one has to read 5 arse fucking comments to every one vitamin comment. It might come as a surprise that not all readers want to read all that drivel.
Some of you live on here 24-7 are well informed and at ease with hiv, alot of us are newbies still dealing with it and learning about it , just because you post alot doesnt give you the right to abuse threads or fellow posters . i dont think anyone clicking on this site for the first time would be to impressed reading all this,im surprised the mods allow such mockery to be honest.
To help you along the way i have started a thread for you in the off topic section.

Just as a point of reference you were diagnosed before me and if you haven't come to terms with that diagnosis enough to joke about it slightly I really do feel sorry for you.  Aside from that the supplementation horse has been beaten to death and has no merit in the actual nutrition thread in my mind.

It is akin to pseudo science since there is very little in the way of documentation.  Sorry if you're upset that the rest of us were poking a little fun, but losing your top over it is kinda juvenile in my opinion.  Ignore us/them and put your thread back on topic.

Seriously? How do you think some of us have survived almost 26 years with a diagnosis? Humor is a way of dealing and coping with the all crap that comes with having AIDS. Ya gotta grow a thicker skin bud. No, not like a zucchini or a pepper; more like a butternut squash.

I've been through all the vitamin supplement crap and you know what?  I'm thinking more and more it's a stage you go through having HIV, just like trying all the other mumbo jumbo like ultra violet cosmic ray  or hyperbolic chamber therapy. It all circles again. It's all expensive and that's something you need to think about when it comes to paying for your meds.

Tommy

There's a place for supplements, but most of us think they that people tend to over-hype what they can do.  You know, if a supplement really had great effect, some drug company would have figured out a way to extract the good part, add something they could patent and make a fortune.  That's how we got most of the drugs manufactured before 1980.  So, assuming there is some great undiscovered supplement that will fix all your problems is at best naieve.  Can they help with some issues? probably -- but usually on the margins.

And if, LIKE YOU, someone is on meds -- there's no reason to take them without talking to your doctor.  It can be dangerous.

I've always enjoyed how the newly diagnosed seem to so easily think that those of us dealing with our HIV infections for +20 years are so clueless not to have discovered the magic potion supplement to make us better.

There isn't one.

Amen.

I wish I would have kept track of all the money I've spent in the past on so called "Immune Restoring" supplements and  "mega-vitamins"

I would probably been able to take more vacations (which would have probably been the healthiest choice)

You may all be right in that we are wasting our time and money looking for the secret formula to keep our CD4s up until we have to start, hopefully, new improved meds.
If our doctors are on board and we run labs to see all is in order, what is the harm?
If we have the fundage to experiment on untried and new things, who have we hurt?

There are many new things on the market these days and other options that may not there a few years ago, maybe they will be of help? The newly infected need help to direct their searches and find their own way even if it is ultimately futile.
We newbies may be finding new research while the rest of the people gave up and talk about sex.
Comments from the jaded are not helpful, if you do not believe in this thread why be trolls?

Give it a rest, Mary -- HIV isn't a one way ticket to Joan of Arc martyrdom.  A discussion of supplements and HIV isn't an exercise in hate.

That was simply vile, ignorant, and filled with your true essence: hatred (for yourself, the world, this "community," and everything around you).  It is you who has truly shown the world what they need to know about you.
