ORDER by Judge Walker denying [705] Motion to Stay. The clerk is DIRECTED to enter judgment forthwith. That judgment shall be STAYED until August 18, 2010 at 5 PM PDT at which time defendants and all persons under their control or supervision shall cease to apply or enforce Proposition 8. I just saw on MSNBC that the Federal Appeals Court has ruled the stay should stay in place.  This is unexpected many law experts have said and just sad.

Doesn't surprise me -- I read an analysis of their statement and

1) normal time limits are suspended and the case is being expedited with no delay

2) this panel (which likely isn't the one that would actually hear the appeal) is skeptical that Prop 8 proponents even have legal standing in the case for appeal and would thus be dismissed.  Not saying it will happen, but it's a huge possibility that's barely being reported on, or only in passing.
