Here We Go Again... Doctors! Yikes!
« on: August 30, 2006, 09:16:20 AM »
Well I got a phone call yesterday from the clinic where I go...a two hour drive because its where I went after Katrina and mainly because I loved my doctor.  Well the call I received yesterday informed me that my doctor left the clinic a month ago and they were calling to let me know there would be NO Doctor available to see me this morning for my appointment....that I could see a nurse practicioner.  Well since they can't write narcotic prescriptions...So much for that.  I went off on the nurse who called me...asking why they hadn't contacted me before...knowing I had an appointment this morning.

I did managed to convince her to get me another appointment with another doctor in another town not far from my last clinic.  They even fax my medical records to this doctors office so I'm headed to the doctors this morning...Never met him...don't know what to expect and don't know whether he'll write the prescriptions I need for pain.  I've been on pain meds for almost two years now....and to take me off of them suddenly...I fear would land me in a hospital.  Wish me luck this morning.......

Here we go again...in search of another doctor.  Damnit!  I hate being Sick and the crap we have to put up with to get treatment.

Teresa and Andy...

Thank you for your comments...I was stressing out about it yesterday but things turned out ok.  I saw a young doctor in a small town but this guy is really on top of HIV and currentl treatments and even suggested I get genotyped again.  It has been almost a year and a half.  He apparently has had trouble prescribing narcotics and initially announced he would not be able to write me any ...until he glanced over my medical records and then I became the exception.  Ordinarily he sends people to the clinic where I normally go....  He is upset that he can not get a social worker down to assist him with patients like myself.  It's a beautiful new clinic....not at all crowded like Hattiesburg and the ladies who work there are absolutely wonderful.  It was a good experience but I will be making an appointment with another doctor in Hattiesburg...an agressive lady doctor who I saw a couple of months ago when my doctor was on vacation.  I am sorry to see my regular doctor leave...He was great and you know how difficult it is to find a good, well informed ID specialist.

Again Thank you..........Things worked out well.  Life goes on................

Hey Alive...

Thanks for the response but NO.  Down here a nurse practicioner can only write non-narcotic
prescriptions.  If yours did...Hmm  I'm surprised!  But Luck was on my side that morning.
