Once Daily Isentress Compared to Twice Daily Isentress
« on: July 07, 2010, 10:55:32 PM »
Any participants or followers of the clinical trial below, who can comment on the recent change made to the Estimated Primary Completion Date?  It used to be October 2010 but now is June 2014.

http://www.clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT00745823

Thanks
V.

Tennisplayer56,

It's probably not trouble at all. I take it once daily - 2 pills, once a day, with Truvada. I was undetectable in 2 weeks and have been reliably so for over a year now. I would be careful to make sure you're receiving the full dose in a 24-hour period... if you're not taking one pill every 12 hours or 2 pills every 24, you may in fact be putting yourself at risk for developing resistance. Isentress is such an amazing compound, it would be a shame to lose that from your arsenal of effective medicines.

It may be a good idea to confirm with your doctor whatever you're doing and make sure that it's effective and won't lead to resistance.  :)

Vertice,
I'm not a participant in the study, but based on my own experience with Isentress once a day (in combination with Truvada), we can probably hold out strong hope the study (whenever it is completed) will determine that once-daily Isentress is both safe and effective. Of course, my experience might be an exception... the value of large studies is to see how things work over sizeable populations rather than on an individual basis! But I suspect that once-daily Isentress, with Truvada, will become the norm.

Thanks Carpediem for your posting. It's great to hear that once-a-day I&T combo is safe and effective for you. I am looking forward to the Once-Daily regimen.  By the way the Clinical Trial was updated yesterday and the Estimated Primary Completion Date went back to October 2010.
