6 almost 7 months later and I can say this..
« on: July 02, 2010, 08:48:17 AM »
I'm happy again =).

Barely do I think about the fact anymore that I am even poz, except for when I take my meds.  In fact I find lately that I have more energy then ever. I'm even opening my own consignment business (It's done mostly online and thru flea markets until I can afford the store space)

I don't think about "omg how much time do I have left?" Instead I make plans for the future once again,  When I first came out and told literally 100's people.  they all treated me different, my friends after a couple of months of support fell off the earth. Now suddenly, everyone's back. No one treats me like I'm sick or different anymore.

I cut my arm pretty bad yesterday looked down and there was just blood everywhere.  My friend was over with her kids. She didnt freak out when her daughter came near me. Even though I told the little girl to step back.  The situation went a lot smoother then I thought it would. I stopped the bleeding and that was it.

Before I got HIV I was a really reclusive person and now I find myself going out a lot, even got myself a van.  I'm loving life and has terrible as HIV is..I don't think I would be enjoying life as much as I am now had I never got it.  nor would I have realized how miserable I was before. and while HIV isn't a good thing to have, it'sg given a little something back to me.

Glad to hear it Ravhyn I was just talking about you in another thread to a newer member.  I was wondering what you had gotten up to in the last couple months cause I hadn't seen you around.

Been very busy =) with the business starting up my entire living room right now is covered in stuff for this week-ends yardsale lol.  I woke up this morning though, and the first thing that came to my mind was coming on here and seeing how people's were doing and letting everyone know I haven't fallen off the face of the earth.

jg ahh, the vacations...looks like we have a year and a half  ahead of us.  gotta wait until my husband comes back from his deployment.  But I think I've got most of the trip planned out lol.

Hi Ravhyn,

Best of luck on the new business venture!  Going to yardsales, auction and the like is a lot of fun.  It'll be so exciting once you open your new store too....I know it's a ways off but something to shoot for.  I've always wanted to own my own cafe.  It's a dream both my mother and I share.

Good luck again!

Ravhyn, I recall when you first appeared on these forums that's you'd pull through quite well, and I'm so heartened to read your post.  And HIV diagnosis is certainly a big challenge, but life does go on and a defeatist attitude serves no purpose.  Thanks for this post.

Hippie you should go for it! =) my mom is a co-owner with the consignment business, and I think it makes it twice as special sharing that with her.

Miss Philicia, thank you =) I think a big part of making it thru those first months was all of you.  If I didn't have this forum and you guys I would have probable been a wreck. I wouldn't know half of what I know now.  and I wouldn't have been able to see the courage and drive that keep's all of you going.  In my eyes all of you here are my heroes.  Many of you have made it thru times of bad drugs, bad healthcare and the stigma that comes with being poz especially back in earlier decades.   You guys made it thru and that really gave me a lot of strength and belief that it will be okay and I'll make it.

5 years later for me and I can relate with what you say. My saying is that I am HIV+ but it is not what defines who I am! I take 11 pills a day and that is also the time I most think about what I have, once again...not who I am. I actually have a ritual of placing my medication out in daily pill containers and have gotten into the habit of a prayer of sorts that find gratitude and blessings for the support of my body and my life.
It is funny how some of the most difficult times in my life, and some are around being diagnosed, have turned out to create some great wisdom for me. My life is now, the care I give myself, and the attention I have for others creates what my future can be.
Blessings on you and keep up the good work. I know that part of me is to remember my past and the results of my HIV+ but to not create resentment or fear out of this experience but to come away with understanding and wisdom. Good luck to you and keep working on yourself.

Jeff

Rave,

From day one I somehow knew that you'd be fine, and that it wouldn't take long for this state of mind to arrive.  I'm glad that you shared this post with the "team"; the newly diagnosed always need to see that there is life after HIV.

Hugs :)

I'm so glad to hear you're doing well.  I often think I actually felt better physically and mentally after just 4 days of Sustiva and after it got my CD4 over 1,000 and vl ud.  I think about that a lot when considering when to start meds.  It sounds like they've given you more energy than you've had in a very long time.

I'm getting to where I don't think about being poz as much, but I still think about it a lot.  I use to wake up and have a moment of feeling like the old me and then remembered I have this virus within about 2 mins.  I've noticed lately I will still think about HIV when I first wake up, but in a different way.  I will wake up thinking about something funny or meaningful someone said on here.

Wishing ya all the best on the new business!

WOW!!
It was a real pleasure to sign in and read such a wonderful post, esp from someone so new to their seroconversion.
I have seen over the years that the power of positive thinking does indeed play a huge role in how we feel both emotionally and physically. For you to feel this positive so early means you will remain healthy and happy for years to come.....GOOD FOR YOU!!
I remember when I first converted. I went through all of the steps of grief, *denial  *anger  * bargaining  *depression  *acceptance. The first step was a year long one during which I drank and drugged myself iinto oblivion. Whenever I thought of what I would experience, Johnnie Walker came and sat with me for hours! I isolated myself and refused to talk to anyone, doctors included.

I could go on and on about this as I think deep inside I still have a lot of thoughts about not being able to accept myself. It has put me on an emotional roller coaster and this ride doesn't seem to have an ending to it. At present I am going through some very trying times. SO many issues that seemingly have no chance of resolving themselves.
But I am not going to focus on the bad today as to do so would mean losing this great feeling you gave me.
Your post has really...REALLY had such a positive impact on me! And for that, I thank you!!
