Of course he's sure. Why wouldn't he be sure about that?

Why wouldn't he be sure about that?
because that's an incredibly high cd4 count

"hopefully can be better"?!?!?
you're kidding right? Undetectable and 1500. People without HIV don't usually have numbers that good.
Congrats on the GREAT numbers! ;D

The normal CD4 count is somewhere between 500 and 1500 cells per cubic millimeter of blood (a drop, more or less). In the absence of anti-HIV treatment, the CD4 cell count decreases, on average, about 50 to 100 cells each year

Atripla did the same for me, of course I probably had a good immune system before being infected.  I think it was about 6 months after I started meds that my numbers went from 103 to over 1000+.

Cph, congrats on the good numbers!

I'm familiar with the range for a CD4 count. It's not an incredibly high count, it's merely at the upper end of the normal range.

Great news!

I expect to have the same success with Atripla too.  I started my 4th month on the 22nd and will have more blood work done this coming Friday (July 2nd).  Except for a slight summer cold back in late May/early June I feel great.  My only complaint is that I dont have the strength that I did last year before I lost all that weight.  I believe I lost muscle mass when I dropped down to 130lbs during the winter.  I have gained weight but still dont have the strength that once had.  With a little more exercise, I think the strength will come back.

Congrats on the numbers cpdh20.  My only cautionary advice, as someone who has had his cd4 count reach 1425 once, is do not be surprised if it goes down next testing to something like ~1000 and stay around there.  It won't mean much.

I'm also going to go out on a limb here and say if I was in your shoes I'd want to make sure there was no lab error with the cd4.  Looking at your old posts it seems you had 180, then 250, then 360.  Going up to 1500 suddenly is a bit odd to say the least.  Let's put it this way -- if your results had come back as 40 everyone would say to retest.  I'd just hate for you to get really comfortable with this number psychologically if it's not accurate, and there's no harm in retesting for that number.  At least you'll know.

May be I don't know I am jealous.  I know when my CD is crashed to low 50 (takes nine years) when I was not taking meds and I know also when it goes up to now 468 (May 09 to March 2010) with of course meds.  But yours is incredible and unbelievable.  I don't know what you did special.  Did you do something different that might especially increase your CD this high?  I think the medical community could also be very much interested to know that.  My be or you need to make a confirmatory test soon.

There is nothing incredible or extraordinary about Van's CD4 count as far as I can see. Impressive, yes but not unbelievable. His latest result is at the upper end of the normal range. As Philicia notes it will most likely settle a bit , maybe ~1000 on future results.

Hey cdhp20... I put lots of weight back on since that low of 130 back in the winter.  30 pounds to be exact.  I would not worry too much about a little extra weight, of course if the increase in weight continues, it can cause health problems.  I enjoy the fact that I am not skinny at this point.  I love having a little bit of a belly and plan to keep it.

Best of luck to you!
