Todays results , some questions ?
« on: June 22, 2010, 10:59:41 AM »
You can see my history below ,but today  i got my latest results cd4 680 , % 21, still non detectable. I know im in the safety zone with these numbers but expected the % to rise a bit more quickly and also thought the cd4 would still rise a bit more instead of dropping as i have only been on meds(atripla) about 7 months. Anyone any thoughts on this , is it quite normal progress. Im 49 years old not sure if that matters , and have been working hard 7 days a week the last two months.
The other thing that concerned me slightly was the liver results( srm-GGT 63.0 Normal range 2.0-30.0), three months ago i was GGT 40.0 and 6 months ago GGT 20.0. Now i did drink alot at a party 4 days before the  blood test maybe thats why or is it normal with atripla for liver counts to rise slightly initially ?
I have cut my drinking right down to two or three units a day since my diagnosis except for the odd party. Any thoughts appreciated regards tommy.
p.s.Doc didnt even mention the liver count and even said he didnt need to see me until november(5 months) but i spotted it when the doc had gone and the nurse just said it wasnt to high and to just keep an eye on it.

Hi Tommy -
I'm on Atripla also for around 6 months or so --- It took awhile for my cd4% to go up -- just now really going there (even with a drop in cd4) - See signature line.  As for the liver results, I wouldn't have the foggiest - even though they are outside of the range, they don't seem to be overly high - doc will probably just monitor them.  I don't think drinking alcohol 4 days before labs would have an effect, as I have drank one or two days before with no difference (But -- everyone's body and response is different).  Was it fasting lab work?  Mine are always fasting and I do them early in the AM (around 8:30).

I've been on Atripla for about 8 months and have had good results so far, but my CD4 went down for the first time on my last draw.  As long as your VL is undetectable I wouldn't worry about a minor CD4 drop for you especially if your percentage is going up.

Tommy, what's there to say? You got great numbers. Rejoice.
